Cigars - Page 279

Having a bbq today thinking about having a 64 anni, no9 and a habano of some sort.

Had a Monte#4, first in years...now onto a VR Famoso, an '08, with a glass of wine outside.

Had a Party Short fresh out of a Feb 10 box. Went through spurts of good and bad. I think that had more to do with them being in transit last week and not yet stabilizing in my humidor. It has been perfect weather here in Boston over the last week. Finally good smoking weather. Also had a Monte 3 and a My Father robusto last few days.

Interesting. I've seen these but never smoked one. I'll give one a whirl next weekend.

Smoking a Liga Privada No. 9 right now.. Meant to pick up a T-52 and mistakenly grabbed the 9 instead. Opinion has not changed, not worth the money.

Illusione Epernay Le Ferme. More subtle and sweet than the in-your-face 2. Paired it with a bottle of champagne to boot. Just how they were intended, the subtleties in both champagne and this cigar go hand in hand. Thumbs up for someone who likes a milder, smoother cigar.

Had an avo le10, very unimpressed with it. Pretty bland, poor construction. Balanced I suppose

A Romeo y Julieta Piramide -- one-off gift from a friend. Very nice with a Chilean malbec.

Wow, you can still find those in NY? Its a good cigar for the $, great wrapper.

The final third kicks everything up a notch and makes you want more. All together, it is a wonderful cigar. It's too bad that a 52 ring is the smallest they come. Also weird that Fuente named them VERY close to the Behikes, but whatever. They are great. The Sungrown line has brought me back to Fuente's regular lineup.

I had no idea those were even remotely rare, my B&M has boxes of them. The ring gauge is not what I usually go for though.

That is an annoying mistake. The no. 9 is not nearly as good as the T-52

I'm a big fan of this stick, I love the sweetness. Never paired it with champagne, though I imagine it would be quite funny to bust out a chilled bottle of champagne and flute at the B&M.

Illusione Holy Lance

Waaaaayyyyyy too mild for me. Virtually no spice until the way end, but that might just have been burning. Kind of tasted like floral scented tobacco. Not too appealing. Additionally, the ash did not hold well at all and would fall off at random into my lap or onto the table in front of me. I will not be revisiting this lancero.

Yeah, that's my biggest problem with illusion, the lack of spice. They use no ligero, which is why they aren't as harsh and are more balanced, but i like the kick. I find you need to smoke to bigger ring gauges to enjoy them.

Addicted to Siglo II's. Almost out of tubos from 2008, so I ordered two SLB's.

I've yet to take the plunge to Siglo IV or VI, both which are said to be different in character. Not looking forward to paying 50% more for the same binder, filler, wrapper though if the differences are minute.

The VI is a much better smoke. The characteristics are much more pronounced in the larger vitola. It's one of the few cigars I've had that you can instantly tell the change in the profile. It's a wonderful cigar

Oh, Jet, just so you don't think I'm ignoring your thoughtful recommendation of those LFDs, I'm not. I just haven't found them yet.

^I dunno if you don't like the no9 then you probably won't like them I'd say pass. I don't like pepper sticks but I'm more of a flavor and balance man. For example I've had about 5 illusione 2s and they're just too bland for me and too much pepper not enough balance.

Today I had a v maduro, wonderful cigar but draw was way too tight. Probably my favorite oliva but again more flavor and balance than kick. Enjoyed an 08 ryj that started off magnificent but wasn't as enjoyable the last third due to lack of smoke probably a touch too moist. Still good.
