Cigars - Page 8

I just had something interesting - a cohiba shaped like a robusto, but in a maduro wrapper. it was very nice, some type of "limited edition".

very nice way to spend the afternoon - sitting in a bar, drinking fresh lime soda, reading a book and smoking a good cigar.

From the maduro 5 line, the Genios cigar is 5 1/2 x50. It is not limited edition. Fantastic smoke though.

thanks - that's probrably what it was. I took the labels off of a bunch of sticks and I am having trouble remembering what they were called. I guess it is something else in my traveling humidor that was a limited edition.

Definitely. I am not a smoker and don't really see myself becoming one (I hate cigarettes). I see cigar smoking more as an essential social skill, and I'm now acquiring the taste to know what I like. After a while, my current intensive smoking will taper off and become an occasional enjoyment. I must say, though, that the cigar bar in Ginza is a far more civilized and elegant bar than most in this city, and I can see myself becoming a regular.

Yesterday evening, I had a Partagas D4, which is one hell of a smoke!

Now also considering the purchase of a humidor, but with the prices I've seen, it will take some shopping around.

NR, before you stock it, make sure that you can keep the climate right for a few weeks - I have had a lot of trouble with my humidors, I think mostly cause I'm not home so much, but I've ruined a lot of cigars. before you put a couple of K worth of cigars in it, make sure you have it working well.

Last night, a Diplomaticos No. 1 with Gimlets...

Right now, a Padron 1964 Maduro Piramide with black coffee.

Nicky Blaines I assume? Always a decent place to go for good liquor and cigars. Atmosphere can be pretty decent as well.

Over the weekend I tried some new smokes. Really liked the Vegas Robaina Familiares and have a Classico that I am very much looking forward to.

More Petit Punch, which I really love over an espresso. This will be my go-to short smoke. Gave one to a friend to smoke last night and he loved it too.

Last night I had a RyJ Cazadores, which is now destined to be a favorite.

The Bolivar Belicoso Fino I had the night before was just too strong. It's a brand I might like better in a smaller vitola.

I also have a Partagas P2 waiting for an opportunity to smoke later in the week. I like the torpedo vitolas a lot.

Thanks everybody for the helpful advice. I appreciate it and have been enjoying this discussion.

Now to embark on the long process of humidor shopping . . .

Oh, and I checked again at the Davidoff store, and the mold growing on a few of the cigars (that is, every one in several boxes) is mostly tinged green (Bolivar Robustos and a few Davidoffs). I also noticed the white spots on some Bolivar Belicosos. Not sure why the Bolivars in particular have fallen victim to this. The moldy cigars are all in one area of the humidor, while the others elsewhere are all fine.

jesus Nantucket you're smoking more than I am now. I think it's safe to say you're hooked for life.
