Here is the link to the article. I just read it myself and it does mention my two favorite brands: Fever Tree and Stirrings.

I use Fever Tree's ginger ale and enjoy it, but have not been able to find their tonic as yet. Have been using Polar.

That all depends of how you make them now doesn't it? My gin and tonics are made with 2/3 Tanquery and 1/3 Vintage diet tonic. I have actually come to appreciate a G&T more with diet tonic than regular.

Eww. It seems to me that there are some people who have a violent sensitivity to the sweeteners in Diet whatever. I certainly do, and I occasionally find others -- we run away from the merest taste. Just nasty. Wish I didn't have that problem as I wouldn't be as fat....

I made the change primarily because of the quantity of G&T's I drink during the warm months. I looked to cut extra calories where I could and I found I don't mind diet tonic at all.

I hear you -- between the alcohol and all that sugar, G&T's are surprisingly fattening, aren't they?

You know that line from Princess Bride about never going in against a Sicilian when death is on the line? Never argue alcohol with an Irishman.

As far as I can tell nobody was arguing with an Irishman here.

Yes, but yours seems to be an extreme example. I think the ratio of 1 part gin to 2-2.5 tonic is more conventional and what I was referring to.

Agree. I can't stand the taste of aspartame and other artificial sweeteners...

Yeah, me, arguing with Conne about it being sweet. Then again, Conne's not ACTUALLY Irish, but whatevs.
