But if you earn $35,000 or over per year and you ARE willing to pay for office pens at $4 a month, you are not rich.

There is a logic to your argument, though for some people pens are not an incidental purchase. This is relevant, because this thread is about pens.

Unfortunately the better one is about to run out of ink and I don't want to pay to have it replaced (my office is cheap and won't resupply what I like).

I find your "favorites" to be among my _least_ favorite pens ever. We hates them.

FYI, I´m also a tightwad and a follower of the Millionaire Next Door philosophy, but I believe a few bucks on pens each year won´t bankrupt me.

As an executive of an aeronautics firm, I feel it necessary to stock our supply closets with these: No cent wasted.

ever since i "borrowed" this pen from my parents place i have been hooked on them. rather inexpensive and they look good - and write great. I'm a lefty and often have trouble finding pens that don't smudge - and these do the trick

you can get them at any office max.

I have nicer pens for when I want to make a good impression, but for everyday writing these are great.

I have a stash of the G-2 in dark navy ink and I lend them out to no one.

cheap pens last less than a week for me. I do like the Retro 1951 line. http://www.crane.com/navSubDepartmen...=Retro1951Pens

They may be seen as more generous/frivolous with their money and consequently they're commonly the people that boast little wealth. But the rich people invariably get rich because they watch everything they spend, no matter how small.

We both agreed that the wealthy people we know are the tightest bastards with money. Whether these people earn a large wage or not, they are generally better off because they watch every last cent they spend.
It all makes sense now! my God, in a few years I could be rich! (and hated and spit on and have a funny nickname like "Scrooge") On second thought, I'll spend the $10-20 bucks a year on pens and resign myself to being poor. But at least I'll be writing with a pen I like.
Great observation on the difference between the rich and the poor. I've seen it myself. One of my second cousins is a multi-millionaire, buys 2 Corvettes every year, one for his wife and one for himself. If a holiday falls on a weekend, his employees don't get paid for it, and he still stops to pick up pennies he sees on the ground. Amazing.
The pen he uses? The Bic round stick. White pen, cap matches pen color. I'd post a picture, but everyone's seen one and/or has one already.
One has to wonder, is this the pen that is replacing Jodum5's already cheap favorites?

Hero fountain pens are pretty cheap and good to use. Check them out first as you can get one with a scratchy nib.
