How do you feel about tinted windows on a black car?

I have an appointment tomorrow to get my windows tinted. I'm not planning on going too dark. There's still time to back out, so I'm wondering what you all think about window tint.

I think window tint looks great on a black car and it's functional too. I would go for a light or very light shade all the way around. I think limo tint is tacky.

Go for it, as long as you're a gangster, a diplomat or an African dictator.

Dang, I was afraid that might be the vibe it gives off.

Also depends on the model but high probability of looking cheesy.

What model is it and have you installed any aftermarket parts eg big alloys, exhaust, dropped suspension, etc?

Only if you're Jay-Z or the President of the United States.

Don't forget the Men In Black.

Seriously, what car is it? If it's a 3 series or C class then don't do it.

W210 E55. 18" monoblocks come standard, so yeah, it has big alloys.

So it is almost MIB2.. I think it would look good with a light tint.

Just don't wear a black suit

Nice car

I'm surprised at all the negative comments...while my windows aren't tinted (because it doesn't look good with my car color), I don't see anything wrong with them, especially if the car is black. I personally think tint looks best on sedans and SUV's, due to the large amounts of glass, so it basically comes down to the car you drive as well as the color.

As long as you don't go too dark, or have a bunch of stickers, spoilers and light kits (then tint in the least of your worries)...you're likely to be fine.

My advice would be sell that car, buy a Prius, and then tint the shit out of the Prius!

Or substitue a Smart Car in there, or maybe a really old Geo Metro.

Thanks. It's probably a bit too nice for my station in life, but what the hell.

If he buys a Metro, the tint will likely cost more than the car.

I don't like the practical effects of tinting: the tint's optical distortion can be pretty bad at night.

Yes. Like stated above, unless you're a gangster, a diplomat, a dictator, or a pro-athlete, tinting just makes you look too hard.

If sun is really bad where you live, get a decent pair of shades.
