In search of a few good items:

I really like the look & versatility of full zip front sweaters. Great for layering, they can be worn open or zipped to any degree, and depending on the weight they can serve as a light jacket with a tee or buttondown underneath, and/or as a layer under a heavier jacket. Specifically I am on the lookout for heavier cotton sweater (sensitive to wool/cashmere), preferably with a collar that is shorter and has a nice roll like a good shirt. I try to avoid the longer ribbed funnel or floppy faux-whatever collars, though I have a very nice Loro Piana funnel collar in a heavy dark blue cotton (it is only polo-length zip though). Any ideas? Also, I'm looking for a nice cotton tee in a rich rusty or burnt orange, not too slim-fitting with a fairly high crew collar. Thoughts here? Thanks for input. AJL

Try American Apparel for the tee. Not sure about the zip cardigan, though Yoox usually has lots of options.

Second the AA suggestion--I bought exactly the T-shirt you're looking for.

AA looks great. I can get a lot and not spend a lot. Thanks

Took a look at YOOX for cardigans. Here's one that's more than a little on the trendy side (what happens when you drop the 2 zippers-- do you lose the center piece and end up with some kind of avant-garde hillbilly wrap?), but I really like the shape of it, especially the collar. Kind of reminds me of a leather bike jacket, esp. w/ the side-bias zippers and all. Not that I'm considering buying it, just like some of the details, and imagining what it could be. I'd love something like it with just one zipper on a slight bias (and lose the sleeve zipper nonsense) with that great collar. http://www.yoox.com/zoom.as....=-1&d=0 Here's another one that's non-wool (my preference due to semi-allergic reaction to wool) that seems kind of interesting w/ pocket & stitching details, though I wonder if polo collar is over-sized: http://www.yoox.com/item....D17CD7. It also seems a bit short to me (hate it when a sweater hikes up over my pants if I stretch or bend). Here's one I really like, other than the fact that its wool & not my size (if its my size in cotton, I'm there..): http://www.yoox.com/item....FD17CD7 Finally, I think the fabric and stitching on this Armani are handsome, I even find the side button placket interesting, but the oddball collar closure is somewhat disturbing to me; why not have the two sides meet? http://www.yoox.com/item....FD17CD7

I think the Armani one looks very nice, but $652 is a lot of money
