thanks

If I recall correctly they stretch a good bit. Also, you should consider whether or not you're going to be wearing socks.

Really? Every week people ask this. Probably only have to go back a page or so in ask a question. They fit true to size for me and i don't wear socks. I just size them so they're comfortable, i don't know about your heel room method. I'm a 10chucks, 10.5 sperry, 10.5 vans, 43 (snug) ndcs, 44 double identity, 10.5 apc x nike, 44 german army sneaks

I know that my friend bought a pair of Topsiders, and the back of the shoe fucking destroys his heel, there's bloodstains all over the back and he can't wear them really. He bought them true to size I think. So, it sounds like you don't want the back to touch your heel.

True to size. I'm a 9 in Chucks, 9.5 in Allen-Edmonds, 10 in Sperry Top-siders. (I'm a true 10).

Yea, it hurts my heel too. Mainly just my left one as my left foot is slightly bigger. You can either but a bandaid on your heel for protection/padding or maybe wear loafer socks so they still don't show. What i did as a nice little trick though i think is better. There is this sticky tack stuff they sell to hang up posters on your wall so you don't have to use tacks/nails. I just took a small amount of that and stuck it to the inside of the back of the shoes. Works really well and you can't see it.

Once you build some nice heel causes, wearing any shoe sockless (including boat shoes) won't be all that bad.

this happened to me when i first got mine last year, but then my feet healed and i never had this problem with them again. i don't know if it's because of calluses or just breaking in the shoes. either way they are super comfortable now, although i did have problems with them being so flat (aching foot pain when i walked around or stood in them for a long time, 2+ hours i'd say) so i put insoles in them and now it's like angels are holding my feet when i walk in them. i got my regular size in vans/whatever else (also the topsiders are the only shoes i wear without socks) so i dunno about any heel-toe/stretching method for sizing.

yea you definitely need to ease your way into going sockless. wear them until you can't bear it then let your heel heal then repeat until you've got a good piece of heel leather growing.

heres the deal. i ordered a the sperry leather authentic original in 9 along with a sperry canvas striper slip-on in the same size. the canvas slip on fits great sans socks. unfortunately i can't say the same for the authentic originals. my heel lift away from the shoe when i walk wearing the 9 authentic original(at least in my smaller foot).

basically what i'm asking is how snug should the authentic orginals fit? once they break in, will my heel stop lifting? or should i size down to a 8.5 for the authentic orginal?

Jesus, buy some moleskin adhesive you freaks.

For those looking at stripers, definitely size down. I got a pair in my usual size (11.5), and I definitely wish I had gone with an 11 or even a 10.5. But no complaints otherwise -- they're a GREAT summer shoe.

I found a pair of brown originals for $47 shipped on shoebuy.com, and I got a half size bigger than my normal.

I have a pair and they hurt my heel for the first week then they were fine. I recommend wearing them every second day until they are broken in. It will only take a few days for them to not hurt your feet.

I am looking for the Sperry with the little lip off the heel... makes it more comfy and easier to take on and off.  I cant find anywhere!  Anyone know the name of it?
