I bought wine...

With all the wine threads lately, I thought it might be fun to do a thread detailing each purchase and later maybe when opened (if applicable) share with the rest of us a brief review.

I'll start:
Tonight I bought 3 750ml bottles of 2005 Lafite Barons de Rothschild Bordeaux for $11.99 each.

LOL before he even posts in it he pwns it, huh?

I have to agree. Once he finds it and posts any picture of his collection or even just his wine cabinet, we'll all be shown up. I know I'll feel inadequate.

Thank you Dark How's this?

I maintain my buying moratorium until Oct 1. It was tough this weekend, there were a couple of bottles I wanted. But financial discipline and all that. I have some Stefania en route and will toss up a picture of that, but if I maintain my vow, all pics between now and October will just be stuff I'm taking out of my cellar

I just bought 2 bottles of '98 Ornellaia and a case of '04 Tignanello. I know their not easy to come by so I just struck while the iron was hot.

Unfortunately, I have to admit I am not exactly as astute as Piobaire when it comes to wine. I am definitely going to develop a more refined pallet before I indulge.

I'm not really into wine, but I do like German wine on occasion.

Fetzer's Gewurtztrameiner is amoung my favorite even if it's not an import.

Piobaire, how do you store your wine? Is it a climate controlled self contained unit or just racks somewhere in your house?

Self contained unit, Vinotemp, E600 is the model designation. There's some sub-designation I can't remember to it too.

This thread is going to be a long one lol...

I just spent the Easter Long Weekend over in the Barossa Valley in South Australia.

Returned with a holy grail of 1 x case of 2005 Rockford Basket Press, along with some great stuff from Henschke, Torbreck and Saltram.

Also have been hitting up the local Aussie online wine auctions such as www.langtons.com.au for some '97 Clarendon Hills shiraz, '95 Henschke Mt Edelstone, and some Laurent Perrier champers.

Am heading to San Fran in June, so looking forward to visting the Napa Valley area, or at least sampling a fair range of its produce in town. Any suggestions? Am a red lover but don't mind an excellent riesling, sweet bortrytis or aged semillon.

Cheers!
