No, they don't have the fancy colors and washes and finishes and trims that justify the price of some designer belts, but the leather is good, the buckles and snaps are solid, and you are not going to do much better for that money. The leather is better quality than any custom maker I've used, save for one rather Italian maker, who charged accordingly.
+1. I love my filson belt. I only wish they made one with silver hardware too.

Oh yeah that will wreak some havoc in an overhead compartment. I checked with United about their carry on size and this one works. I have an up and coming adventure overseas and this is the bag I'm planning on using. I have an Outfitters bag and I'm going to load it up and ship it to my destination. Travel light, get in get out.

And yes the place is really owned by a Crane after 108 years. If I remember right Dave is the 4th generation owner.

I sort of find the end pockets a bit useless, and I sort of wish that the compartments inside had "bottoms", but the bag is gorgeous and absolutely incredibly well-built.

I have a 257 and the end pockets are useful! You can fit 2 very important things in it:

1) 800ml size Klean Kanteen - www.kleankanteen.com

2) A bottle of wine!!

It's not a matter of if and when anymore. We are a premium affiliate and it's a matter of graphics and setting things up.

If you're referring to the website, yes I will have additional discount codes and it won't be just on Filson either. As I mentioned earlier the best price you'll get on anything we sell is by calling the store directly.

Open tote, #260 runs $69.65 by calling the store. We run a discount of about 20% on the website, but you have to put it in the cart first (that is off the MSRP). Filson keeps a close eye on the website so we have to be careful with the discounting. Yeah, I am 4th generation running this store. We've been in this location since 1926 and in business since 1899.

Looks like a great store, and just a straight shot down I-70 from me. Next time I'm out that way I'll be sure to stop by. Do you get an even better deal in person?

I hope the storms haven't been too bad on you.

That depends. You might pick something off one of the clearance racks or you might walk into a sale of some kind.

We got plowed by the storms. 3 inches of rain overnight and a lot of wind damage in my neck of the woods. At least we didn't get 4 inch hail and tornadoes.

My wife just got me a small carry-on (240) in otter green for me for Father's Day. I was sort of disappointed that she didn't get to talk to Karl or David (that would have been trippy and fun), but the price was remarkable.

On my next trip, I'm going to push it up really hard against someone's Birkin (yeah, someone had a Birkin (and it was real) and was sitting in coach. Apparently, jetsetting isn't what is used to be.)

Alrighty, here's a test for you guys, Fok's post has inspired me to forget about the wimpy tote and get something that I can use (hard) for 20 years to come. I'm looking for a weekend/duffle bag or maybe perhaps a bit more - something large enough to easily hold 3 pants, 3-4 shirts, a sweater, a jacket, and a pair of shoes or two, and a few books. External pockets (if present) should likely be zippered. I'd like it to complement, but not look too similar to, my 257. It would be a bonus if it were carry-on-able for quick flights. Suggestions? (The first two are likely my initial favorites.) 266 243 246/248 222 PS - Why is the 242 so expensive relative to the others in it's size range? Thanks again. I'm becoming a Filson addict, I fear.

The large carry on is very similar to the pullman as far as interior design is concerned. The big difference is the carry on has a storm flap and briefcase style handle in addition to the shoulder strap. Is it worth the extra money? In my opinion yes. The storm flap adds a layer of security for foul weather and foul fellows.

Any of the bags in your list should work for you but you may need to trim down that packing list of yours depending on the bulkiness of your clothes.

Also each airline has it's own regs for carry on size. I know the large carry on squeaks by with United on international flights. Beyond that couldn't tell you.

Pick the bag that fits your style and budget, what works for me may not work for you.

You folks can expect an order from me in the next month or so.

Perfect, thanks. This actually helped immensely.

I think my next bag will be the 266 - Sportsman bag (yes I use the stuff, my wife thinks I have a problem, I get a bag a year and I have way too many coats). I like the side zipper pouch. I have the Large Carry-on, #242 and I love it. It has a back open pocket and I can be a problem to undo the cover to get to the zipper front.

One bag a year? I think that you are well under control by the standards of this forum. I am afraid to post in the "recent purchases" threads....
