Blue ink.

I am in search of a nice deep blue ink for my Lamy Studio. I am sick of my green/black Zhivago by Noodler's. I want to stay away from Noodler's ink entirely because of some horror stories I've read about incompatibility with Lamy pens. I do post on a pen forum but those guys are a bit.... Gentlemen. Halp!

I like Waterman's Blue-black.

The melting feed in Lamys is exclusive to the acidic Baystate inks, the rest of Noodler's inks are neutral and have never done that to a pen. I say this because I recently got Legal Lapis and really love it, and it can be made a more true blue by adding Violet Vote 1:1, plus some black = very lovely. I hear good, dark things about Ellis Island Blue Black as well.

Private Reserve has some very saturated deep blues, and though beautiful, they take forever to dry, at least the DC Supershow Electric Blue did. Midnight Blues are supposed to be nice.

If you haven't tried an iron gall ink, they're not that dark but I like the grey-blue color, plus they're waterproof. Montblanc's Blue Black and Diamine's Registrar's ink are both these, as well as Hero Blue-Black.

Pelikan Blue-Black is nice as well.

Then there are all the other, boring blues. If you just get a black and a blue and start adding one to the other, you'll most likely be happier.

I just switched out from a predominantly Zhivago lineup myself, and have fallen in love with a dark purple, Violet Vote + Black.

And as crazy as pen people are, they are by far the friendliest forumites I've ever encountered. Plus, like here, the pen industry responds to the forum, and they're actually producing the third forum-inspired ink right now, which is a dark blue. So you could wait for that. FPNxNoodler's, if you will.

Thank you both for your responses. The Noodler's X FPN sounds like just the right thing.

I got the FPN X Noodler Starry Night ink last week and it is fantastic. Just the right thing. Cheers.
