I tried on a pair of PRL silk/linen blend pants the other day and although extremely comfortable I wasn't sure if that type of material screams tommy bahama or middle aged man. I've been shopping for an upcoming cruise this june to mexico and I definitely want to go more sheik and not wind up looking like the average tourist. so far I've stuck to seersucker and 100 percent linen. so what do you guys think? yay or nay on the silk linen pants?

Could not resist this one. So wouldn't that mean you need more robes and a harem?

Serious response: I've never seen a silk/linen blend fabric that I've liked, so I always stuck with plain linen or lightweight cotton.

Not knowing what it looks like, it probably would risk looking like a costumey item from the International Male catalog. If not, it still might be a bad idea, due to durability issues.

You should really take a first hand look/feel at this fabric sometime.

I have a pair of 45/55 silk linnen blent flat front chino shorts that I really like. They've stood up to a season or two of regular wear and proper washing fine. They're no Dickies construction pants, but niether is pure linen. I'd describe the fabric as having a semi-smooth texture that is quite soft to the touch, with a faint sheen. Not nearly as rough and crinkly as pure linen. In fact, I feel this is a superior blend as far as feel and texture than linen/cotton.

Only problem is finding clothing that is cut well using this blend.
