Tailors in Paris?

Given some developing work commitments, I expect to be in Paris quite often over the next 5-6 months. I'd like to take this opportunity to try out some bespoke artisans.

Fairly certain I'll give Delos or Aubercy a whirl, but would also like to order a bespoke suit. From what I've read Parisian tailors are very expensive, and I have no intention of paying 5,000 euros for a suit. Are there any good tailors in Paris in the 3,000-3,500 euro range?

If you want to use Delos, you have to call in advance to make sure he'll be in Paris. He works much of the time out of Saumur; his assistants/apprentices are in the shop in Paris but he prefers to be there to fit/measure/discuss in person with the client . Gomez is generally around in the C&J shop weekdays without appt, bar lunchtime; never on weekends. Didier Martinez is generally around at Aubercy as well.

Bespoke suits at Charvet start at 3000 euros and go up. There's also respected tailors like Guilson or Gabriel Gonzalez, among others, whose work is from 3000 to 4000 euros. Cifonelli and Camps are in the high 4000-5000 euro range, so somewhat out of your range. But there are good tailoring options in Paris in the price range you seek.

One consideration is that (if you have to work for a living, like most of us) the time savings of being able to use a tailor in the same town you will be in likely cancels out anything you might gain by "hopping a cheap flight to Italy" multiple times for fittings and the like. At certain periods it was stressful enough trying to make a fitting in the same arrondissement, let alone thinking of trying to make it to a different country for one.

International man of mystery Michael Alden would have more on Paris tailors.

Does anyone have experience with the Bespoke/MTM division of Lanvin? I hear their clientele is deeply rooted in the business/political scenes, and that the shirts are some of the most exquisite one can find in France, but they start at like 700 euros...would be interested to see if someone actually has tried them.

You've been reading Men's Vogue.

Lanvin bespoke shirts are exquisite if cut quite form-fitting.

The bespoke suits start at 6500 or 7000 euros. Too rich for my blood.

Have you visited them on your trips from Constantinople for fittings at Massaro?

That's pretty much more expensive than anything on The Row. Damn

The Lanvin store in Paris is such a delight because there are three distinctly different dress styles all within the same store.

The suits and shirts on the upper level are a tad over-priced for what they are. I imagine their tailor service would be the same.

Charvet seems like a bargain compared to most. I wonder if they do fittings at BG when they come to visit NYC...
