Twitter?

Thread Starter
I received an invitation from a friend to join Twitter.

I'm already on here, Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Twitter and if it's really necessary to join another site.

Any thoughts?

Dumb.

It's very convenient that Penny Arcade happened to make a comic about it just today: http://penny-arcade.com/images/2008/20080423.jpg

I have some friends that somehow get their Twitter messages onto Facebook. Their messages are dumb. I have never seen anyone Twitter anything worthwhile.

There was that one guy who was sprung from Egyptian prison via a Twitter msg.

Yeah, I never really saw the purpose of Twitter, I'm surprized how many people do it.

I personally don't get it. The taco truck updates idea has merit though.

We started using twitter for our kids boutique to notify customers as to when goods arrived so they dont have to call and wonder if the brands they like are in. Customers love it and we are happy because it lets us get the word out quicker and more direct than an email.

Otherwise I dont understand what others might care that someone is enjoying a mocha latte while waiting online to board a flight.

I use twitter and find it fairly useful just to keep up with people more so than facebook. Facebook tends to be a site that you add anyone and everyone which leads to lots of useless information you don't care about. I find I use twitter to keep up with people I want to know about or tech updates that would require more time to search out. Twitter tends to be a lot more active participation than facebook and you get out of it what you want to.

More importantly, can you pick up chicks on Twitter?

Social faux pas.

It's not as bad as defriending someone on Facebook though.
