How many of you guys have this hairstyle?

It has occurred to me that at least over half of the male population in my city seems to have this "hairstyle." I was at the gym the other day, and I looked around and literally every single male had this exact same style. True, I live in Hollywood, so I expect everyone to be clones of each other, but I'm wondering just how prevalent this style is in other cities? It's really starting to get played out, and it does look a little ridiculous now (and kinda gay.) Yes, I've had it myself briefly.

Ok, just doing some research on this...is this the faux hawk? I was under the impression that a faux hawk was more of a "sharper" pointier hawk. Guess not eh? Another related question, why do most mens trendy hairstyles look so unnatural and retarded? Why do women's hairstyles look so natural, free flowing, and not dripping with various products but mens "cool" hairstyles, look like the one shown above or even worse over styled variations of it look overloaded with every product under the sun? Why do they always have to be spiked like crazy, smothered with all kinds of sticky pomade and fiber to be contorted and twisted into god knows how many different angles, instead of taking the approach that women take which is to have the hair flowing as naturally as possible? Forgive my ignorance on the subject, these are just my random thoughts after having 4 cups of coffee just now.

I have something similar to that style, although I make sure my hair looks dry and not gelled, so its a more natural look.

That's not a faux-hawk, this is:



A faux-hawk is cropped upwards all the way back, whereas the hairstyle shown in the OP is just up at the front.

I think it's popular because it's a relatively easy hairstyle to pull. Also, if you don't put any product in your hair (like myself), even on a bad day, it still is short and flows the same direction (dorsal on the top, caudal on the sides). Frankly, I don't have banks that stick up like that, but mine do naturally shoot up a bit.

It's a fairly looking normal style that's easy to pull off. I don't see whats wrong with it. -edit- unless the picture isn't showing something..

It's easy to have and popular because it looks good.

Also, Chris Mcmilan helped popularize this by saying its a good style. Short at the sides, with a little more at the top.

My hair is more or less this style. I don't need to put anything on it in the morning, just some water and it's presentable. Ultimately, I like it because it's a low maintenance style.

Isn`t this style really old? I remember David Beckham made it extremely popular in Asia, but that was like 5 years ago.

I get something similar by default when I don't come my hair, which is often. I'd style my hair more if my hairline cooperated.

Yea, the style is pretty old. And in my city, which is similar to yours, the style is all over the place.

Sad that you see it in the gym, I would hope that ppl in the gym work hard enough to sweat through their hair style and lose it....
