SOLD Hey everyone... I know this isn't clothing, but I wanted to offer it to SF'ers before I through it up on Craigslist. It's a stylish object of desire though, truly a sexy gadget. It's a new 16GB Ipod Touch bought from Best Buy as a Christmas gift. I also have an extended 3 year warranty for it and a Belkin Silicone protective case... I'm offering it for $400! That's the same price of the 16GB Ipod all by itself... but you're getting the $65 3-year warranty that covers cracked screens (could happen on a Touch) and ONE FREE BATTERY PER YEAR (that's $120 or so a year right there). Plus, the Belkin Silicone protective case in babyblue is a $20 value (comes with Walmart receipt, so you can always get a different color). When I was given this, I also got a new BlackBerry with an 8GB MicroSDHC card, so I've been using that and just never used the Touch. I have a short walk to work (about 15 mins) so 8GB is ample for that and it's easier to carry one thing around. What a waste to keep it. I accept PayPal or Google Checkout, and shipping is included. I can also upgrade it to the latest software or jailbreak it for you, free of charge. I'll also be happy to load it with whatever music or movies you would like. I have over 200GB of music, so I bet I have something you'd be interested in like the entire Beatles, Radiohead, Bob Marley Discographies or my extensive jazz collection picked by Ken Burns for his documentary just for a few examples. Lots of Rock, Alternative, Rap, Classical, Trance, etc too. I could always include more on a side DVD as well.

According to the pictures, it even has GPS?

It's not real GPS. It uses the towers around you to figure out your position, not nearly as accurate but extremely useful for finding directions. Google Maps still gives directions to your locations and store information, etc.

by towers you mean cell phone towers? because by cell phone towers you are talking about an iphone.

You have over 200 GIGs of music!

About how many songs would you estimate that is?

The picture is the picture from Apple's website, obviously. It's not an Iphone, so it won't locate you from cell phone towers (BlackBerries can do this too) but there is a Google Maps app for it... so maybe that's what it's supposed to be. The newer apps and newer firmware is $19.99 from Apple. I think it's wrong to pay for firmware updates, as do many other people, so there are tons of websites, forums and torrents that you can download them for free. I can do it for you, or send the updates with the Touch on a CD/DVD and you can do it. Lifehacker.com is a good place to read up on how easy it is. As for my music collection, it's scattered throughout a lot of folders and two hard drives with most on my media server that I can access via Orb anywhere in my house (ie: home stereo via wifi), on my BlackBerry and at work. I couldn't even estimate a firm number, but the 16GB Touch can fit approximately 7000 songs, so maybe 100,000, give or take a few thousand (I prefer higher quality so they're bigger file sizes). I haven't even had a chance to listen to most of it yet, but I'll get to it someday. It's just good to have the variety around. Orb can work on a Touch if you Jailbreak it, FYI. Adobe Flash is coming in June, so you'll be able to access internet radio steams like on AOL radio (with a free AOL account you get access to about 80 XM stations for free which is sweet).

Is the warranty from bestbuy? Have you checked into how to, if possible, to transfer the warranty?

That's how the iPhone version of Google Maps works in terms of 'GPS'. I don't own a iTouch but I'd assume it can't update your position without cell towers unless it uses wifi, or it can't update your position and just shows directions from place to place.

the touch does mock 'gps' the same way the iphone does but with known wifi spots the iphone uses both cell towers and wifi spots....neither is a substitute for a real gps system.

Yes, the warranty is a Best Buy warranty. Transfers are pretty simple, just go to the store, give them the new info, and they print out a new warranty receipt. I'd do this before shipping it out, and I'll also include all the receipts (I saved everything), including the first warranty receipt just in case.

Best Buy warranties are pretty good. I've used it to make claims on a PSP and 2 laptops which I bought warranties for... I usually get them for my portable devices if they cost more than $300.

The PSP's power supply craped out on me and they just let me get a new PSP off the shelf. They didn't even look at it. The PSP warranty policy is the same as the iPod warranty (that's what it says on the slip), so unless you're getting a new battery, they'll just let you get a new Touch off the shelf... especially sweet if the 16GB isn't carried anymore.

My first Best Buy laptop just failed 2 1/2 years into my warranty, so they gave me a store credit to get a new laptop after 2 weeks of tinkering, pretty nice considering it wasn't worth a quarter of that by that point.

Lately I just use it to get new Laptop batteries on the newer laptop.
