Braces... and Invisaligns?

I had braces back in 6th grade, but after many years and Wisdom Teeth in between then and now, my teeth look like I could use braces again.

Has anyone here tried Invisaligns? How did they work out for you? How much did it suck to wear braces as an adult (if they're glorified retainers I don't think it should be too bad)? How much should I be prepared to spend? I know when I was a kid they weren't cheap.

hey i have had experience with invisalign before. since you have had braces before, im pretty sure invisalign will work for you (but if you teeth really are that crooked, you will have to go with braces).

I'd like to tag on one more question for Invisalign users: if you have all of your wisdom teeth, do they have to be cut out to use Invisalign?

Just from my experience, when my wisdom teeth crowned and impacted, they screwed everything up which is why I want to get braces a second time.

I wasn't in a position where I couldn't have mine removed until they did some damage first. Not too much, but enough to annoy me.

Braces arn't that bad if you have a certain kind of ortho like I did. I had my braces on for 1 year and a half, but after the first month of pain my teeth were perfectly straight because I asked him to tight it really tight so that it would go to straight as soon as possible.

And never wore retainers for 3 years now and still looks the same.

It depends on how bad your teeth are, if there is crowding and overlapping, invisalign probably won't work.

do you need retainers after invisalign? or do you just keep using the invisalign?

I'm on my last invisalign retainer right now. Results are pretty good, but I know I'm going to need at least a few adjustment retainers to fix some issues. I'm pretty sure its just a normal part of the process though. I THINK you are supposed to wear a more permanent retainer (probably the same one you would for braces) after the invisalign. I won't know until I'm done though.

I had invisalign a while back. I ended up getting 16 sets (16 upper, 16 lower). Basically I wore each set for two weeks, at the end, I had a very small permanent retainer installed behind my upper front teeth. I honestly don't even realize it is there. It is to keep my front teeth from spacing back out. I also wear regular plastic retainers at night, no big deal, you get used to it. My results with invisalign have been amazing, well worth the thousands of dollars I spent on them. One piece of advice, make sure you utilize an orthodontist that has had a lot of experience with them. They are not as simple as just taking a mold and sending it in, my orthodontist had grind down certain areas between teeth to make sure that at the end, everything would line up perfect. I have some friends that got them and their results were not that good. As for my wisdom teeth, I had all 4 removed, it would have caused a lot of crowding to keep them.
