What's the most stylish way to go bald (a great concern of mine at the moment!)

Shave it close, or shave it all. No combovers. Is it too late for Rogaine?

Definitely pass on the combovers. A close cut looks more flattering than having long hair with balding or the awful combover.

In Europe when I was there last guys who were balding pretty hardcore just spiked what little they had left and let their attitude fill in the gaps.

if I ever get even a little bald spot, I am shaving the whole thing off.

Agreed +1

Although I still have a full mane at 50, some think I'm lucky. But if you can believe this, I'm sometimes, dare I say envious of some of the fellows that sport a fully shaved crown. It actually can look better than having a mane.
The women these days seem to be much more flexible, and certainly don't seem to care one way or the other. More so, the shiny toppers seem to attract some pretty sensational and fullsome femme fatales.

As some others here have posted, if some of my follicles disappear - I shave it all off.

Hold on to what you have for as long as you have it with Propecia, Rogaine and Nizoral because science is on it... there's lots of cash money to be made on treatments and your pharmaceutical research companies know this.

I'd say a close crop, and if you don't have a fat head you might be able to pull off the Andrew Sullivan shaved look. Combovers are really bad and toupee's are iffy.

if you're far gone, screw it. mach 3 turbo baby!

i've been shaving it for 10 years (i'm 32)

personally though, i think it tends to look better on a bigger dude
i'm like 6'2, 240 (comp. powerlifter)

I'm 23, my hair has been going since I was 21 (have a real bad receding hair line) so I decided to grow facial hair for the first time in my life.

Now I can grow a REAL good beard in no time and can keep it thick wherever it need to be thick, but I fear that at 23 I look like a 30 year old pedo due to the beard

I agree! I use Propecia (actually 1/4 generic Proscar 5mg; it's much cheaper) and Nizoral 2% shampoo. The Nizoral 2% is prescription in the USA, but you can order it very cheaply from Canada at:

I tried Rogaine, but it was just too much of a mess and too much trouble to use. I guess for those that use "product" in their hair anyway, it might not seem like such a big deal.

They don't work for everyone, especially those with very large bald areas. If you only thin in one area and the rest of your hair remains thick and a consistent texture, plugs can look good. I know someone with the good plugs and you can't tell. Bad plugs you see the scaring and an uneven or unnatural looking hairline.
