The frames I am wearing most often lately are these Paul Smith ones made by Oliver Peoples:

I asked this question earlier, but will ask again here:

Is it possible for me to buy a pair of nice designer glasses, and walk into a lencrafters or something and have them put in prescription glasses for me, or am I constrained to use the frames only available at these places?

I'm not sure about big chains like Lenscrafters, but most optical shops can supply/create lenses for any frames, regardless of where you have purchased them. Just check with the place where you have your prescription done.

I always assumed chain stores like Lenscrafter and Hour Eyes carried high end brands? The question is WHAT frames are you buying? custom 24k? Haha.

But to answer your question, these stores have people that trim the lenses down to fit into anything. It isn't the cutting that's a problem, you need to look more into what quality of lenses you are getting.

Hope that helps.

How do i find out the lens quality? My plan is to just buy some frames that I like, take my prescription to a place that accepts my insurance, and see if they can do it.

An optical shop in Glorietta. The name escapes me but I'll check for you.

VSP sucks big time in my limited experience. Rip off outfit, amazing how they scam companies into that program as a "benefit".

It really just depends on your vision. Por ejemplo, it your like blind(not literally) your lenses are going to be like an inch thick if you purchase the cheap ones(also not literally an inch) But if you want to pay more for a slimmer lenses, it is going to cost you more. The higher quality the lenses the more scratch resistant, better for your eyes, etc. it's going to be.
