It is common in Mexican (and other) restaurants here, too.

I am not trying to boast of having a cast iron stomach; I find this to be a good balance for heat and flavor. I know there are many much hotter sauces, but I don't enjoy them as much.

Yea, I just think of heat as just that...heat. When I want to make something almost unbearable (I don't get the urge very often) I reach for the HOT stuff. Everything else I just lump in the same group.
