A few people from high school have tried contacting me in the years since high school, I've ignored them. If I wanted to keep in touch with them I would have.

I don't think I'd go to a High School reunion because I think it would be fairly depressing. Seeing a bunch of people whose life peaked at high school reminiscing about "the good old days," when they were popular and are now fat, balding, and stuck in a dead end job with 3 kids sounds very depressing and not an event I'd care to attend.

The only reason I'd go to a HS reunion is to bone one of the hot chicks I couldn't get when I was in HS. But chances are they're probably fatter and even more boring. So, nah, not worth the effort just to see who's still fuckable.

I have my 10 year coming up and doubt I will go. If I wanted to keep in contact with them, I would. I imagine it will be football players talking about the one big game they won and the other clicks still hanging out. All the hot girls I went to school with now all look like they starve themselves. I see them on myspace and they make me sick now. If they did not want to talk to me then, why would they now?

Ditto. And in a bad way.

I'd bring my wife. That's what you do. Typically, at least from what I've seen, it's a weekend thing, with a casual get-together as well as a nicer thing. Bring the whole family (including kids) the casual, just you and the spouse/S.O. to the more formal.

Btw, I thought this thread was going to be about the show High School Reunion. Total **** and I'm addicted to it.

My 10 year will be next year or so and I don't plan on attending. There are only 2 people from high school I actually talk to. The weird thing is I can no longer remember who I went to high school with and who I met in the dorms in college because it all kind of blends together.

My high school reunion won't be all that eventful. From what I gather a lot of random people got married who somehow re-discovered each other after graduation and many have good jobs because of their daddies.

The only high fiving I'd have to do about high school is studying for tests all night with my nerd friends. Rather not.

If I did go though, I'd bring a date, either my serious gf or my wife if they wanted to come.

No way. I left town the day after graduation and haven't looked back. There are two people from that time who I've kept up with, and we're all of the same mind-set.

Gawd! You people sound boring. Didn't you have any friends in High School? I did and there's a huge difference between "looking back" and taking a weekend out of your busy life of video games and paintball to go see some old friends. I've gone every year and had a blast. In fact it gets more fun each time.

5 years=Kind of a beating, everyone is just getting started and is trying to impress everyone about what a great job they have, etc. But there's usually lots of booze and that's what's important.

10 years=People are starting to relax a bit about the whole career thing. It's just fun to catch up. People are starting to become grown ups. All the women look really hot. All the men are fat and bald.

20 years=Very relaxed. Lots of fun. People are talking mostly about their kids (and grandkids). Fewer people are showing up. Many are with different spouses than they were with at the last reunion. Men are looking distinguished. Women are fat and bald [not really, but fatter and greyer], but we don't care as much any more.

30 years=I'll let you know next year.

Plenty of friends in HS. But I keep in touch with the ones that matter. I see them occassionally (my best friend quite regularly). There are others who it would be nice to see in person rather than just via e-mail, but part of the fun would be seeing the assholes' ****** lives. I admit it.

I have my 20 year coming up next year and I'm looking forward to it. It should be fun. For all sorts of reasons.

From the sounds of it you gents did a better job of choosing your friends than I did. I would have to check the penal system to catch up with a few of the ol' reprobates.

Part of this is that I am not now who I once was, not by a long shot. Another part of it is that I was a transfer student moving late into a well-to-do school, where I never felt like I belonged. I'd call it an outrageously clique-ish school, but then again I suppose you could say the same about every high school everywhere.

I also have my 20 year coming up next year. And I won't be there.

I have my 10 year reunion coming up this year, and I'm definitely going. It'll be pretty fun (HS was in Long Island; the meet up will be rather casual, just meeting up at some random bar in NYC) seeing everyone. I guess my HS experience is somewhat unique in this way -- class or 130 at a public school, and while there were some cliques, everyone got along with each other. It was more pleasant than what most people seem to describe as their HS experience, and my friends from high school agree for the most part.

And of course, let's not forget about the whole bagging chicks who were hot back in the day. That's really the key.
