Took a Virgin America flight out to SF that was supposed to leave at 7:45am... closer to 8:15.

Damn, I should have sent the secret SF code message out over the PA.

Haha, well, I'm flying back into Dulles on the 21st at 6am, so you might have another shot.

I was wearing an ash gray Chan suit, white with navy check Jantzen shirt, navy patterned tie purchased from Ron Rider, a Kent Wang square (white with flowers), falke socks, and Polo Tellmans from GVH -- full SF regalia. Came in through concourse C and left through D, so no chance to look for JB; sorry I missed you.
My return flight was delayed over an hour, but it probably wasn't entirely your fault.

One of these days everyone needs to come to DC for some kind of meet. Maybe over the summer?

Roikins, I doubt I'll be out there at 6am on a Monday (I'll just be rolling out of bed) but if anything goes wrong during your transit let me know and I will promptly bitch at those responsible.

I flew out of Dulles on Sunday afternoon and back into Dulles on Monday evening (actually very early Tuesday morning). My experience was mixed. Flying out, the security line was surprisingly short and quick, but the walk to the gate (including travel on the people mover) was interminably long. Signs for taxis were not well marked, and the lengthy wait for a taxi to go home was frustrating.

Dulles may have been state of the art when it opened, but is now very, very outdated.

I actually enjoy shipping out of/into Dulles. I've had bad experiences at Reagan, and I can't stand BWI, so IAD is by default my favorite in the area. Direct flights to Tokyo and Beijing are also helpful Yes, you have to ride the buggies, and yes, there is a lot of walking, and the C terminal needs some major upgrades around the lower numbered gates, but I can deal with all of those.

And the worst airport ever is O'Hare. Lost baggage... delayed planes... and the amount of time it takes to get through customs, take the train back to the main terminal, and go through security again... I'll do anything to skip that place.

Dulles has been "under construction" for at least 7 years. They promise this major upgrade that will vastly improve the place, but I don't think it will ever be done.

All of the construction is part of the D2 re-development project. As far never being done it's actually moving along pretty nicely, with several phases completed including two new daily parking garages, passenger walkways with moving sidewalks, new control tower, and numerous updates to the main terminal.

Well, in my experience it's like the road that connects the Honolulu airport with Waikiki. Always in process, never done. Never really intended to be done.

I hope you find your beer wench there some day.

The Dulles Toll Road and expressway from the Capital Beltway to the airport is completed, do you mean the terminal construction?

JB...you seem to be the Dulles guru on this forum so I have a question. Due to the recent snowstorm I had to rebook my flight. Now I have to depart from Dulles (where I will park my vehicle) and my return is to National. What form of transportation can I use to get from DCA to IAD at 10:30 pm? Taxi would be about a week's salary, so looking for other options. And the last shuttle bus leaves the Metro stop at 10:45pm, with that late of arrival I doubt I will be able to make it. Thanks for any advice.
