I will go against the grain and say it depends on how I feel on any particular day. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

If I am wearing a non-woven tie, no dimple, if I am wearing a woven tie, then yes dimple. I actually prefer no dimple, to be honest. It's more minimalist and I lik that.

I find with some of my more "casual' ties it's hard, if not impossible, to achieve a good dimple. Otherwise, I favor the dimple.

Single dimple. Provides nice curved surfaces for light to reflect off.

I used to say yea, and now say nay. I almost like a badly-tied tie. It looks better. Less thought-out. Though I can tie a tie with a dimple easier than I can without.

This is exactly (most of the time) how I feel about adding the dimple. Sometimes, it almost gives off an air of too much effort. Though I agree that it is often easier to add the dimple rather than go without.

This is the twilight zone this post....... So serious reply for a simple dimple? Would'nt a dimple wrinkle more the tie?

With woven silks the dimple is important, many ties use a warp color entirely different than the colors you see straight on, resulting in an irredescence. That's the nice thing with silk, you can play with the weave to make the light do amazing things when the silk is bent. That is why I like working in 3 dimensions rather than two.
