Indeed I have the same one.

I paid it 5200 euros and this one has been sold 6200 euros.

So I am glad to see I have not lost money on it.

For a watch you have to consider 3 things which are often differents :

- picture of the watch
- the watch in reality, in your hand
- the watch on your wrist

Many times I like a watch on a picture and I was fallen down in reality or on wrist.

This watch may not be nice on picture but in reality it looks impressive and on wrist it looks great and matches very well with a navy suit and a blue shirt.

Personally I'm less concerned with the aesthetic quality of movements or the resale value of watches when I purchase them, I purchase watches because I like their styling, feel, and reliability /accuracy (to some degree, most of my watches are automatic but I wouldn't not own a quartz watch, simply because it was quartz)

I'm personally fond of Breitling, AP, and IWC, again primarily because of styling. I wouldn't be opposed to the Patek watch I posted, but neither am I willing to pay $35k for it, as I don't see the point.

I imagine that the common person wouldn't dream of owning a Breitling, probably a Rolex Submariner.

Whatever sins Italians may have, and I would maintain they have few, being effeminate compared to the French is not one of them.

You are wrong. Everybody knows and quote Rolex or Breit as the best brands.It is like Boss for suit. Famous, far to be the best and far to worth their price.


I do not like this Breit. Nevertheless I have seen some I found not too bad in the dispay window but on my wrist it looks bad.

Anyway I think this brand is overpriced like Rolex.

I like the look of the GMT but I do not want to buy a watch of 3000 euros with a bracelet of Seiko.
If Rolex improve his bracelet and folding buckle I might buy one for WE.
Anyway I prefer this watch with a rubber or leather strap. For casual of course, not with a suit (look ridiculious = "look at me I have a Rolex for diving in the office&quot

If you like accurency and case buy quartz as an automatic movement of 200 euros is like a quartz one.

I really like this watch. The others are far too complex / annoying / Rolexy. I am with Ernest in thinking that a simple watch is always best (be it for dress, or for sport). I always opt for a minimal amount of bling.

Well I don't know how it is in France but almost everyone in the world recognize Rolex as a high end brand (most people think they are the most expensive watches) while most people I know aren't aware of Breitling ("that's a nice watch, what kind is it?") as I wear one most days. I think saying that everyone knows of Breitling as a high end brand (or even at all) is just plain wrong, because it's not true (although I'm sure Breitling wishes it was) Breitling and Rolex watches are certainly overpriced, especially compared to Seiko who makes some awesome watches in their Grand Seiko and other high end lines that have comparable if not far superior movements to any swiss makers IMO. http://ninanet.net/watches/others03/...s/mgseiko.html I think the strap vs band argument is rather stupid as well, most people don't buy Rolexs for diving, and most people don't buy Breitlings for flying. I agree (with Brian). This IWC is at the top of my acceptable bling scale, unless one is actually diving, racing, flying a plane, etc. In which case it is functional bling. I really like simpler watches, and I've gotten used to just not wearing one for months now. I always have my cell phone, so it's just one more thing not to have to think about, although for suitworthy occasions I will pull one out.

Hmm, I like the IWC as well, I got it at a good deal too, paid about $2500 for it.

In France Breit as almost as famous as Rolex and is worn buy the same customers (= marketing victims who are not aware of what make a watch and who want to make think they are rich)

I have the feeling you did ,ot catch what I said about strap.

I said the bracelet and folding bukle ($5) of Rolex were complete ****.
It gives a cheap look and if I buy a GMT one day, I will put a leather or rubber strap as it looks much better than this cheap bracelet.

But a Breit with a suit doesn't look good.

Most of people wouldn't pay more than $150 for shoes, $400 for a suit or $80 for a shirt.
Are they right because they are majority? It is the same for Rolex...

Seiko who makes some awesome watches in their Grand Seiko and other high end lines that have comparable if not far superior movements to any swiss makers IMO.

Not to any...

To some may be.

Seiko makes an automatic watch using a flywheel that has absolutely constant movement (not 1/5 second jerks, the second hand sweeps) No swiss manufacturer has even come close to making a movement like that. I will post details later, I'm on my way out.
