2:1 is perfect. Just be sure your chlorella is broken or cracked cell wall. Chlorella's cell wall is indigestible, so it needs to be broken with a high pressure air spray so your body can get at the nutrients inside. Spirulina has far more beta carotene, and is the second highest source of GLA in the world (next to human breast milk). Chlorella's cell wall binds to toxins and metals like mercury, aluminum, and cadmium, allowing you to pass them through the stool. Chlorella has far more chlorophyll also. Those are the main differences between the two. I've racked my brain trying to determine which one would be better to take, and I just can't. Both have their strengths so I take both. Since you are taking them for the first time, go slow with a small dose, especially with the chlorella, and work your way up. Taking too much at the beginning could trigger a "healing crisis". They are so good at detox, they release toxins that have been building up in your body all this time, and it could make you temporarily sick. 2 Years ago when I first took spirulina it gave me terrible migraines and stomach aches. But the next morning after I woke up I felt better than I ever have in my life. The taste will take getting used to, but you will get used to it. Just mix it in pineapple or apple juice. I'll gather up the nutrition info I have on them during my lunch break today. Also, NOW is a very good brand. I take their spirulina and Jarrow brand chlorella. But I have read NOW chlorella is the equivalent of Jarrow as far as quality goes so you did well.

What do goji berries 'do'? At ~45 bucks a kilo they seem kinda pricey.

I just purchased Vitamin Shoppe's Chlorella 1000mg and Nutrex Natural Spirulina 500mg along with some cold milled flax seeds to mix into my protein shakes. I took my first Chlorella last night, and boy does it stink! And it makes my pee green... Fun! I didn't read about the broken cell walls until now, and I don't think mine have that...oh well, I'm going to take them anyway and see what happens.

How much did you pay at Vitamine Shoppe?

The Chlorella was $8.99 for 100 x 1000mg. The Spirulina was 11.99 for 200 x 500mg. I got the cheapest ones they had (in pill form.) I am wondering if I should take back the Chlorella and get some that definitely say broken cell walls.

Broken cell wall is very important, or else you'll get none of the nutrients inside. Find it hard to belive that any company sells chlorella without a broken cell wall, but it doesn't say it on the label so I'd take it back.

Unless, you were severely deficient in whatever nutrients Spirulina/Chlorella contan, then you likely won't feel anything at all. A lot of people report higher energy levels. I think you'd have to really know how your body reacts and gauge it over the long term in order to get a good idea how it affects you.

I notice a blast of energy from the spirulina in an hour or two. Chlorella takes 5 or 6 hours to digest. I think Spirulina since it's more easily digested will give faster energy, where chlorella will take time but give a steady stream of energy over a long while. At least, that's how it affected me. I have tried them separate from each other, to try to see if I preferred one over the other to save some money having to buy both...but turns out I like taking both at the same time best of all.

Took spirulina for the first time yesterday. Awesome.

Question...do the effects lessen over time?
