Wondering if there are any other fans of these amazing food/supplements? Wheatgrass, chlorella, spirulina, alfalfa, blue-green algae, etc.

If you drink Odwalla, you might want to try making your own. Not only is it cheaper, but being fresh and not flash-pasturized makes it even healthier. I can't wake up in the morning without my "superfood" smoothie.

Currently I take spirulina and chlorella only because they are the most nutrient dense.

In the morning drink smoothies made from banana, pineapple juice, coconut milk, splash of lemon juice, soy lecithin granules, spirulina, and a little bit of chlorella.

At night I like to drink 2 teaspoons of chlorella mixed in fruit juice or sometimes even water (you get used to the taste).

The amazing difference I've noticed in my energy levels, attitude, appetite, etc have piqued my interest in other such super supplements such as bee pollen, royal jelly, and msm. Has anyone tried any of those as well?

If anyone is interested in trying spirulina/chlorella, I'd highly recommend getting the powder from an online vitamin discounter such as luckyvitamin, iherb, or nutritiongeeks. Capsules and tablets may seem more convenient, but it takes an absurd amount of capsules to equal one teaspoon of the powder form, not to mention powder is so much cheaper and better digested.

Good stuff. The powder can be messy but is well worth the trouble. This stuff sustained a family member through a particularly grueling ( peculiarly anomolous)Military Officers basic training in the Ft. McClellan Alabama heat for 4 months one summer. I'm convinced it's no placebo, unlike shark cartillage...eww!

Yeah, I know there are unfortunately many ridiculous claims associated with spiru/chlorella, such as curing cancer, etc. But before shrugging them off as snake oil, at least give them a try.

I have never had so much energy in my life. Good, sustained, level energy; not caffeine/sugar crash and burns. The only thing I can compare it to is a b12 injection.

Not to mention, I've noticed that I don't even like to eat or drink anything with caffeine or sugar in it anymore. I really do think (mainly due to the large amounts of chlorella vulgaris I consume) that the profound changes my body has undergone in the last 3 months destroyed junk food's appeal to me.

Eating spirulina half an hour or 45 mins before my workouts has enabled me to double the intensity, duration, and even healing of my muscles afterward. I now workout every day without problem. The only things I still need a few days rest on are squats and deadlifts, and even those rest periods have been cut in half. I use to walk like I was buttfucked a whole 5 days after doing squats or DLs. Now I'm completely recovered after 2.

You beat me to it. I mean cottage cheese has 30 grams of protein per cup and no fat...that's pretty damn super if you ask me.

kwik, chlorella and spirulina are both different types of algaes, and both are the most nutrient dense foods in the world. A single teaspoon of spirulina for example, contains around 200% of the daily recommended value of vitamin a in beta carotene form, and 33% vitamin b12.

Both are also great sources of chlorophyll, with chlorella having by far the highest concentration of it than any other source. spirulina comes in at a distant second. Both are also incredibly sources of protein, second only to the egg.

Chlorella is also great for detoxification, because it's tough cell wall binds to mercury and other poisonous metals and enables you to pass them. Which is why it's a good idea to start off slow with chlorella and work your way up to the normal dose, you WILL **** your guts out when you first take it.

Okay, why do I want 200% of a vitamin? Can't 100% work for me?

If it's second to the egg, and I eat eggs everyday, then those have no usefulness to me.

It detoxifies me by making me **** my guts out? Why don't I just take a laxative, or better yet, eat some spicy hot wings. They do the trick.

Intriguing. Do you take a multi-vitamin in addition to spirulina/chlorella, or have these supplements eliminated the need for a separate vitamin?

Completely eliminated the need for a multivitamin. I am of the opinion multis are worthless anyway and due to digestibility, competition for absorption, etc, vitamins are best taken separately.

I take calcium, zinc, and soy lecithin in addition to the superfoods. I don't need them per se, but all three of those supplements are incredible sex enhancers. Zinc is pretty much the basis for any penis pill you see advertised on television these days. And sperm is primarily made of zinc and lecithin, so I can shoot some badass pornstar loads now.

If you think that will work, by all means go for it. I also never said it was a good replacement for other proteins, due to it's high cost. It CAN be a replacement for leafy vegetables though, considering a teaspoon is the nutritional equivalent of 5-6 servings. Both algaes are currently being used to stave off malnutrition in developing countries, and both will be the primary food source on the space station. Not to mention both algaes give relief to IBS, colitis, and Crohn's disease, and the high chlorophyll content knocks out bad breath and body oder in a matter of days. Anyway, I'm done 'advertising' them. The purpose of this thread is not to convince anyone of anything, but discuss them with others who may be taking them, or know of any other foods like this. I'm very interested in opinions on royal jelly and MSM from anyone who has used them...

My facetious remarks weren't meant to be inflammatory, I'm just messin.

I would like to know more about them though-- they seem at least worth looking into. Where could one find more information? (outside of this thread's future)

Normally I'd say just google it, but there is just such a vast amount of bullshit and hype (both positive and negative), it makes it very difficult to find good info. When I have time later tonight I'll try and post some pdfs I found with actual scientific studies.
