Yoox....the Final Price Cuts - Page 7

Most of the suits they stock are R length. My experience with many of the Italian design houses that Yoox carries is that, unlike US companies, they don't often stock S, R and L. A suit labeled as IT48/US38 is simply that - no length designation included on the tag.

Do yoox items come with return labels and all that? I see that you have to pay $5 per item right? And is there a shipping fee or is that free?

also, i had no idea they shipped directly out of italy...interesting!

I think some they do and some is already here. Most of what I have ordered has been shipped right away from New Jersey, while my latest order has a message that says it is en route from their Italian warehouse.

If you're in the US, you have to pay a $5 re-stocking fee but they ship you the items with a pre-paid UPS return label. They don't charge you extra shipping for returns; it's included in the original shipping fee.

UPS
Your return must be sent to us by UPS, by using the preprinted label which you can find within the original shipment. By doing so, you will allow us to pay for your return shipping and trace your parcel. Please visit UPS/drop-off to find the UPS drop-off location nearest to you. You may also give your package to a UPS driver. We are not responsible for any loss or damage to your merchandise if you ship your return without using UPS.

Return shipping is free.

All you pay is $5 per item...It's not much for a big ticket item, but its quite a lot for, say, a $27 pair of trousers

Also adds up when several items have to go back because Yoox can't provide basic sizing information.

It's the trade-off for paying bargain prices I suppose. Yoox didn't always have the re-stocking fee. I think it was only introduced in the last 1-2 years, and may reflect increases in transportation and fuel costs.

hmmm, I wonder if they would send a length measurement if asked.

Definitely not. Their warehouses are not located in the same place as their call centers. Yoox is not a store that provides help. It provides dirt cheap prices and poor product descriptions. It would be far easier to just buy the item and then return it if it doesn't fit. Given that shipping (and return shipping) is free most of the time, it will only cost you the $5 return fee.

Yup, just got an email from them:

In reference to your request regarding the wearability for this particular item, we have to inform you that it is not possible for us to obtain the measurements or further details on the fit, as we have such a vast catalogue that it becomes impossible to check each item personally.

You can see all the available information on our items in the single Product Pages. We would also like to invite you to read our Size Guide, available through the Customer Care Area, and please remember that, should the item not fit you as you expected, you may return it for a refund, in accordance with our Return Policy.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again, should you have any questions or concerns.

Until next time,

Jason

Oh well. $5 is less than the price of gas to go to a store and try a suit on.

How old is the stuff on Yoox, in your judgment?

E.g., they have new spring items. Would you guess they are left over from the 2007 season? Or are they older, for the most part?

No way to know for sure, but I'm guessing the previous year. I've picked up several items from Yoox that I saw selling for full retail the previous season.

I just bought a pair of Costume National Pants and a shirt by the same company. At $149 including shipping for some pretty standard items, not bad at all. One can not have too many ivory or white shirts or gray flannel pants for casual evenings.

This year's Winter sale is somewhat of a let down. I am not sure why ,but most decent brands got sold out at much higher price points than last year.
CostumeN. J.Sander , Borrelli etc are all went for 300-400 plus.
I still picked up a few nice things, but I returned 70% of what I bought due to unpredictable fit & finish in some cases.

A few things I kept:

Women's shoes ,yep you got that right: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...83N&sts=orders

J.F. Ferre RIP : http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...41S&sts=orders

Stellatum Blazer: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...51S&sts=orders

Moschino wool trench: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...01L&sts=orders

Nice leather jacket: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=5...12D&sts=orders

One more Cosume N Blazer: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...72C&sts=orders

Women's scarf, yea you got that right; women's: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=4...71L&sts=orders

Pair of pants: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=3...92C&sts=orders

TOTAL disappointment this year: "Viktor and Rolf"-horrible tailoring(narrow shoulders with baggy body)

And I am out and over this SALE.

Yeah, I looked hard in this latest round of cuts and couldn't find much of interest. Most of the stuff in my Dreambox was either long gone or still marked up more than I wanted to pay.
