Caring for corduroy?

I have a fairly new RL wide wale cord blazer that needs some help. My son wiped some lunch on my sleeve so I mentioned off hand that I'll have to get the blazer cleaned. Sweetheart that she is, my wife decided to clean it for me... and threw it into the washer. It came out clean alright, but incredibly wrinkled and damaged. I treated it to a quick steam and lint brush, but areas of the jacket seem to have "crushed" corduroy. Not alot, but enough to shelve the jacket. Any ideas on restoring the damaged areas? Any special brushes or techniques to try? Thanks T

Two words: Salvation Army.

You could try a more powerful steamer. If that doesn't work I don't know if anything will.

Thanks for the advice. I went with longer, heavier steaming in conjuction with brushing and that seemed to fix most of the major problem areas. There are still small "welts" here and there, but at least they give the jacket a more worn in look. I'll give it a few more passes before sending to Salvation. I guess the good news is that the jacket has been marked down so much I could buy it in all three colors for the same price I paid for the original (and that was at a pretty good discount as well).
