Forgive me if there's already a thread for 'I'm tossed up on these two things, is there something I should know about that I might've missed?' but I didn't see it and didn't think this applied to the 'Quick Questions' thread. If anyone else has any items theyre debating between feel free to post 'em.

At any rate I've been wanting to move away from sneakers for a couple of years now and my dress shoes (AE and the like) are clearly to dressy for streetwear so I've stumbled upon these..

Paul Smith Starr (looks slightly disstressed but I can't tell if they'd come off as to clean and shiny for streetwear as I can't see them in person. Maybe brown would be better but I'd like to avoid full price with PS. Sales?)

Paul Smith ankle boots (basically jodphurs? I like the shape alot but smooth shiny black may come off as to dressy?)

Frye Brando (I like the color and shape for the most part, but looks a bit boxy)

Admins with space being at a premium on the forum feel free to lock/move if this thread is total shite.

I like the idea of a this or that thread, now we can limit the number of new threads for this kind of thing...Of all three shoes, I prefer the first pair, and if they do come off a little distressed in person, I don't think they'll be too formal for streetwear. The last pair are on the large/clunky side, I agree, and I personally always hate boots with that elastic thing.

The Brandos take serious commitment with that bulky top shaft as far as hem width goes. I think the ideal would be a different pair of PS ankle boots, but the Starrs are nice too.

You have 3 pretty different shoes so it's hard to tell. If you're just moving away from sneakers all the time (such as myself), a pair of non-dressy boots would be the easiest for you to wear with most everything. Followed by the paul smith brogues and then the dress boots. From a personal standpoint, my favorite of those by far is the paul smith brogues. So nice looking in person.

I have the black starrs... they don't look too dressy at all. You may want to consider the Sundance and Ricard boots from PS, because they are even less formal IMO.

drizzt, if you've got a source for Sundance boots still, hook me up. I've been looking for brown leathers and am willing to pay full price!

Not if you want multiple opinions. That thread is only useful if you have a question that can be fully answered by one person (and sometimes not even then).

I vote Starr.

I'm getting sick of the small questions thread. I pretty much ignore that thread.

You're right. I'd rather see 20 threads a month asking about slim button downs, slim tshirts, slim but not skinny jeans, cheap sneakers, etc.... Not to mention sizing issues and where to find questions.

This isn't even including the automatic 5 threads per month from randomftw where he acquires a great database on where to find things, but never buy them.

Paul Smith ankle boots are nmero uno here if u ask me, I`d choose them if I were you. I think they look most stylish and not too over-sophisticated ( u mentioned that they might be shining too much, I doubt it they are so fine)

In general all of shoes ar nice

But Paul Smith ankle boots are absolutely gorgeous. U have a good taste ( exept the last pair of shoes, they just don`t look too well)

These are mad differnet shoes.

but for my 2 cents:

I like the first pair a lot. I'd wear em for sure.

Second pair is okay. I think you are right to be weary of that level of shine. Could lose the bright blue elastic, but maybe you'd cover that with your pants.

I don't like the third pair at all. Really boxy and clunky. They look like anime boots for an anime character or something.

the problem is, arguably 90 percent of the threads on the front page could go into the small question thread.

such as this:
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=61200
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=61189
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=61197
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=61193
or
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=61134

are all small questions.

and once you've jammed everything into the small questions thread, searching for threads on a topic is worthless.
