Picked up my second OCBD from Carl today. The earlier thread is here:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=57623

Carl and I both had some changes, all to the collar. He wanted more "fill" to the collar leaf. They narrow too much toward the points on the first one, he thought. I wanted a bit more roll, a bit more tie space, and the portions of the band above button, behind the tie knot, to angle downward more.

I got everything I wanted, and so did Carl:

With the tie, it is a big improvement.

Open necked, I think the buttons are bit more toward center than I would like, but with the tie the collar is perfect.

You decided to have a pocket? Didn't think it got much use.

It doesn't, but it seemed "right" or "authentic" with an OCBD.

I actually used the pocket on the first one on a recent trip. It held my landing card for about 20 minutes.

Over 1.0. I'm not able to see such a difference with no tie, but the collar works a lot better now with a tie. Honestly, I really liked it before, but this is an improvement.

Ah, OK. I agree.

I think this is "there" now. I hope so, because I ordered a bunch of linens today!

Ah, the roll is much improved! Are we going to get to see what it looks like tucked in? I received my Mercer last week and put it through a half-dozen wash-and-dry cycles already. I'll put up pictures soon--hopefully.

But you can probably hand pick the stitches out in a day or two.

I was born in 1969. I have never known a BB OCBD without pockets.

Because you've worn it every day, or because you're "antiquing" your OCBD?

That will be fun, since our Mercers are the same size. "Ladies and Gentleman. In this corner, the telephone poll. In that corner, the bobble-head doll. They are wearing the SAME SIZE SHIRT!"

Hmmm.

It's still a bit off to me, but it is better than 1.0.

Neither. David Mercer told me it would take several washing and drying cycles before the shirt settled into the right size. He was right.

No kidding, but between the two, I have to say I prefer the telephone pole. A telephone pole has dignity. A bobble-head doll . . . well, it bobbles, and there's no dignity in that.

That being said, I really like the baggy fit. I'm pretty sure everyone else is going to hate it--so I'm slightly reluctant to post pictures. The Mercers seem like good people.
