PSA: Trader Joe's marinated Ahi tuna steaks rule OK

Title says it all. I will now attempt again (and probably fail again) to eat an entire 1lb-ish. package of this awesome tuna. It costs $5ish/lb, comes frozen in a vacuum sealed ~1lb. pack of two steaks(probably keeps a loooong time), grills up in like 2-5 minutes depending on your doneness preference, and tastes better than any ahi I've had in a restaurant, seriously. I think next time I go back I might buy like $100 worth just to make the point to them never to stop producing this.

Oh yeah, and it tastes great cold chunked up on salad the next day. I will also get some popsicle sticks and try making an Ahicicle to be eaten grilled-then-refrozen. I'll report back.

Word J. TJ's might be yuppy-ville, but they sell some damn tasty food that is often easy to prepare and also often not so unhealthy. I also like their marinated carne asada and tri-tip for grilling. Their frozen mirco-wavable rice is great. Other frozen stuff is great too, like their risotto, this oriental chicken thing, and frozen soy beans.

There's just a lot of stuff to eat there that is pretty damn good.

I like their selection of wines, but then again, I'm possibly the cheapest bastard here.

+1 to the steaks J mentioned, and also to the other stuff P mentioned.

I'm consistently impressed with the quality of their pre-made frozen foods (heat & serve) and ready-to-cook meats, especially for what they charge (almost half the price of Whole Foods).

Ever try their carne asada?

Yup, love these. TJ's is one of my favorite places to buy meat.

I don't think I'd do an Ahi popsicle, though.

to Trader Joe's. Their house wines are just unbeatable at $2.95. Yeah, you heard right, $2.95 a bottle...in DC. Nothing costs $2.95 in DC.

In any case, I frequented their frozen isle when I was living near one. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to live near one in the future.

There are people who take 5 minutes to cook tuna steaks?

I actually like these medium-done more than rare, but I'll switch it up for no particular reason.

I can handle things! I'm smart! Not like everybody says, like, dumb... I'm smart and I want respect!

P.s., TJ's vintage ale, which comes out around the holidays only, is quite good, is made (as far as we can figure) by the factory that makes La Fin du Monde in Canada, and costs like $5-6/bottle as compared to $9-12 for LFdM/etc.
