How many of you have ever seen the real "classic ice cube tray", made of metal with a lever handle to break the cubes free?

I almost bought one of these a while back and still might. The silicon ones I have now suck. The metal one seems the best.

+1. Looks like a good idea, nice design, but they bite.

Grandma's ice tray! That is a classic piece of Americana. You end up with a bit of splintered ice once you've yanked the lever as I recall, but works pretty well.

^Yeah. Or you end up with a handle in your hand!

I've had the Oxo. It works great without the lid. The cubes are a good shape and they pop out with a satisfying crunch. But the lid, oh the lid. It's impossible to put the lid on without spilling water.

I rember those trays. I know my Grandmother had them and I think I had them in an apartment I rented in college.

omfg brilliant. I don't have any flat space in the freezer for regular ice cube trays to rest properly so the water doesn't spill out. This is exactly what I need. No more warm highballs!

They give a lovely zinc flavor to your ice cubes!!

Buy those plastic bags with round-shaped ice cubes that you fill with water and tie to close. The ice never smells of your freezer.

You still need to lie that bottle flat until the water is frozen solid.
