Business trip to New Orleans - food and fun suggestions wanted! - Page 2

I lived in NO for 6 years and had no problem doing Bourbon on a regular basis - then again, I like dancing with girls. Yes to Pat's, Grenades, and Cafe Du Monde. Also Two Sisters.

Yes to Pat O'Brien's, an emphatic no to hurricanes, but if you must have one, get one at a little hole-in-the-wall take-out liquor place and walk around the streets with it

Never been to Tropical Isles, so no comment.

Yes to Cafe Du Monde. You're going to have coffee anyway, right?

May I also suggest a take-away muffuletta (like a hero sandwich) from Central Grocery, and dinner or lunch at The Court of Two Sisters.

Were this many years ago, I would also have recommended Preservation Hall, but the guys I saw play there were already ancient, so I assume they are all dead now.

- Jacques Imo's. Skip the standards (e.g. Gumbo) and get some of the other stuff on the menu, like the deep fried roast beef po boy appetizer.
- Peristyle: not sure if this is still open.

Uglesich's closed a few years ago. Peristyle is very good and pretty fancy, but the chef changed a few years back, and it hasn't been as good. Jacques Imo's has some of the best seafood dishes I've ever had, and the fried chicken is awesome.

This is also a good recommendation. If the weather is nice, I like wandering around the quarter during the day with a muffuletta. Some of the side streets away from Bourbon are actually pretty fun to explore.

Second to: - Cafe du Monde, it's worthwhile tourist or not. - Napoleon House - One eyed Jacks - Central Gro for Muffeletta All in the FQ. Also if you're near Canal St at one of the big hotels, August & Herbsaint are right across Canal in the CBD area and are excellent restaurants. Both are on the pricey end. I like the Marigny Brasserie on Frenchmen for dinner, plus the bar is good and you could go solo and not feel weird.

I'm sitting in the ATL airport waiting for my connecting flight home - New Orleans was pretty fucking awesome! I hit some really cool locals only spots and also a few places you guys recommended too - thanks! I've slept maybe 3-4 hours a night for the last 3 nights and I am going straight from the airport to DJ in Baltimore so I'm kinda running on fumes at the moment. I'll post a full summary "Victor-style" with photos in "What did you do last night" tomorrow sometime Thanks again for all the suggestions!
