Week One in the bag - Page 2

If you really want to experience quick results and lose weight and tone up, look up Frank Shamrock's regime, and then cut it down by, say, 5, but keep the intensity. Make a lot of use of the all purpose room.

That a good point actually, I was taking for granted the learning curve.

do some google searching to see why cutting carbs out of your diet will not help you lose weight.

Your program is all over the place and Day 2 will break you down pretty fast. However, if you feel you're up to expending that kind of energy, SMW's routine is better, though I think you may spend too much time learning the lifts and hurting yourself. A calorie deficit is not a good place to learn cleans.

You said you only have a smith machine, so can't do cleans. How were you going to do deadlifts?

If you don't mind mentioning the name of those books, I'd appreciate it since I'm looking for a few to read.

A good place to start for beginners: New Rules of Lifting

Cosgrove's programs are decent (I had a 58-year-old friend hit a 405 dead following them) and Schuler is a mensch.

$17.13

Couple with this for a more complete guide to big lifts: Starting Strength

$29.95

So you understand what's being targeted by each exercise: Strength Training Anatomy

$13.57

And finally a decent guide on how to stick to a diet: Flexible Dieting

$39.95

Total = $100.60

Good luck,

lefty
