Very interesting thread, by the thread's title, I expected it to be a long list of sellers who have "behaved badly". The title is a bit misleading, and I can see how it can be viewed as off-putting. SDF

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I can only reiterate that the law is on the OP's side here. It's sort of hard to start an argument when a court would find against you. "Yeah but..." but nothing, he's legally entitled to be put in the position he would have been in had the contract been concluded. Keep your bargains. Anyway, I know you're not pursuing this legally, I'm just saying, there's not much room for debate on what the right way to act in this situation is.

I've been wondeing whether the second buyer is a member of the Forum and deliberately tried to get the seller to cancel the first sale. It certainly does not sound as if the second buyer paid immediately, unless he did and was refunded his money in response to the OP's counteroffer.

Maybe there is room for a counter-counteroffer.
