You're too civil.

If I go the wedding tie route--as I very well may after more thought--it seems black shoes are virtually mandatory. Frankly, I'm just reluctant to go buy more stuff.

Might as well get it.
You only need one pair of black shoes anyway.

You're moving to Manhattan to become a corporate lawyer, and you don't have any black shoes?

IIRC, he's at a firm, not corporate (in-house)

Yes, yes, I know . . . but the firm is business casual and I don't typically have an issue wearing brown shoes with my suits. I have to buy black shoes sooner or later--but mostly to wear to formal events.

I take it plain or captoe are my two options?

Stitch cap or punch cap.

If you want to borrow one of my wedding ties, you can, but you have to send it back.

A plain toe black shoe is semi-formal day wear, and really should not be worn with a lounge suit.

Glad you asked, eh?

Thanks, man. That's awfully generous of you. I'm just being stingy, though. These things need to be bought sooner or later--I might as well get them in time for my own wedding.

Anyway, if you sent me a tie, I might be tempted to sell it on the B&S forum.
