Does anyone here wear these? If so how does one make it look cool? Do you tie it or something?

It is a required ingredient in the hipster tool ensemble*. Just get a normal patterned scarf.

*Extra bonus points if you wear it with an t-shirt that is all-over printed in guns.

To reiterate from the last thread where this came up, it is pretty much inextricably a political statement. You should probably not wear it if this is not your intent.

The ones you linked to don't look like the stark keffiyehs that you see on Yassir. You could likely get away with rocking one discreetly if it had a more complex pattern to it.

They're a symbol of Arab nationalism. If you are going to get one, make sure you know what the colors symbolize. The red/white ones are popular in the Gulf states and with the Bedouins of central Africa. They're also really associated with Jordan. The black and white ones are Levantine.

I think it's possible to wear one without being douchey, but it requires your outfit to be balanced and not outrageous.

Red ones show up in Palestine and Lebanon too. Implications change from region to region (I remember alan posting that the red and white ones are socialist and leftist in Lebanon; this is not the case in at least a couple other countries), just as the implications are different in this country.

My general feeling stands that while the substance of the political statement may change considerably, it's virtually impossible to wear one if you are not politically aware and in some sense politically motivated.

Recently in Paris I saw that far too many otherwise malnourished girls were wearing them. So to reiterate unless you live or work in a desert, or desert country you have no business wearing one.

RyJ Maduro, that second one, the tan and black, is really nice looking. It's not a typical color scheme and I like that. Another way:

I like the style. Tru tru everyhipster and their mon is wearing them now, but whatever. you wanna rock it; rock it. For anyone that says don't wear it casue of political reasons I personally don't go with that. Couldn't you say the same thing about Bandana's... The pizza guy i go to wears a red bandana around his neck.. does that make him a Blood? It is true that certain colors may mean certain things to different groups of people, but they are also pretty much standard for anyone living in the middle east. The Israeli army gives out Green/ Black ones as part of the uniform, as does the American army (not sure what colors though); One set of colors may mean something totally different depending on what region your in.
