^^^ Well, I'd like to know what you don't like about mine. You don't like the tie, or don't like it with the outfit? What would you wear instead?

I'm not the poster your question is addressed to, but the tie isn't to my taste either.

How wide is your tie? I have a 38 chest and have settled on 3.25 inches as my ideal tie width. Is that tie knotted in your preferred knot? It appears to be that four-in-hand shape favoured by Italians, where the knot is as wide as it is tall. I prefer a knot that is taller than it is wide. But, you know, to each his own.

mafoofan, i read your blog. very interesting and very nice photos. thank you for sharing.
i think your outfit is everything else than cartoon, like it very much. at first i was a little disturbed, but did not know why. it was the one button. i am not used to to 1b jackets but the more i think about it the more i like.
but what i think is the best detail in your outfit is the collar. really amazing.

what i would think about again is the pocke square, i think it is a touch too light in colour. if you take critique from a noob

I think the tie doesn't go with the outfit AND I don't like the tie

I would have done either a pin dot (dark background/orange dots) or muted paisley.

Since I placed in one of the other contests I thought I'd stay out of this one.

I can see that. That's why I stay away from white. I thought the cream color, matte finish, and slightly fuzzy finish, would help it blend better. Perhaps I'll have to experiment some more. However, although it may sound perverse, I don't like 'dressing up'. I wish my closet were filled with things that were old standbys, if that makes any sense. Thus, I'm trying to get away from having hordes of pocket squares.

I can see white pin dots on a dark blue background, but I'm less enthused about the muted paisley. Orange dots I definitely can't see working. To me, orange rarely works as well as one wants it to.

^^^ Solid wool/cashmere in a range of colors would also be nice, as would a knit.

Actually, the tie you commented on in the pic above would work also.

Excellent suggestions. However, I'm ashamed to admit that I don't have any knit ties . . . yet.

A casual entry, though I realize the jeans may disqualify me. Out for dinner last night. No name, too small brown "feathersuede" jacket, J Crew light brown merino wool sweater, Brooks Bros white OCBD, Nudie Average Joe's, Florsheim wingtips, J Crew handtooled western belt, brown heather socks, Kent Wang Pucci-inspired handkerchief. Tried a pointed fold, but tamed it down in to a square later.
