So apparently Ray-Ban Wayfarers are making a big comeback. I admit to being skeptical, but I saw a guy wearing some yesterday and I have to admit it was an awesome look. Well, on him anyway...I doubt I could pull it off. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Did they ever go away?

Depending on where your aesthetic comes from they can be an 80s throwback (Risky Business) or a 50s/60s look. I have a pair that I dont wear too often but I'll throw them on once in a while when I'm driving.

But it's a classic Americana accessory. Everyone should own a pair.

Where did they go? I haven't worn anything else in the last 30 years.

Making
a comeback? They've kinda been the "it" glasses in LA for a while. Plus, as said above, they're classic. Even after this momentary trend, you can always rock them.

Comeback? They've been on the comeback track since a year ago.

Let them die a slow painful death.

I wore my Wayfarer IIs all week at the beach. Mainly with my seersucker white/light blue looking shorts, a white vneck and my navy boat shoes. Or just shorts, sandals (gasp!) and not shirt. I like them and whether or not i pulled them off properly didn't really matter. I'm not sure how confident i'd be wearing them around every day use on campus or something but perfect for little excursions like the beach.

I have 2 pairs of the reissue of the 1952 model, one in a light tortoise, the other in a dark tortoise. The light one has a James Dean vibe, the dark one more like a blues brothers vibe- it's funny how much of a difference the color makes.

Love them, I just wish they would stop printing their name on the arms and lenses. It just makes them look a little tacky.

Agreed, they are a straight-up classic. You can't go wrong with them. I love that they're made in smaller sizes for my smaller face.

As long as you're not wearing bright red ones or pairing them up with with a 20-color fitted ballcap, then you'll look great.

For a purchasing tip - check out Ebay and sort by "US only" vendors. There's a bunch of sellers with authentic merchandise who have them priced around $85 bucks or so. Just look for the people with huge feedback ratings. And think about getting the polarized versions - they're worth the extra cash.

I wear mine all the time. Great glasses.
I agree with the Ray Ban on the side comment....wish they would do away with that but I still dig 'em.

I have to agree. I like some RB styles but the logos make it a deal killer.

They're the only ones I wear. I'm thinking about getting rid of my aviators. They go great with my hair.

Now you're just like a poor man Max. All negative, all the time. At least the other dude posted pics and did not look half bad.
