Doing things alone - Page 7

I am jumping in late without reading most of this thread but.... I believe that new york is one of the few cities where it is socially acceptable to eat, watch a movie, and do just about anything alone. Ive lived in the city for a while now and I do not feel weird at all doing any of these things solo... but if I were to go to somewhere else and eat alone I believe it would feel awkward. Its just something about new york, everybody is so busy, people find it hard to hook up with each other, so they go alone.

Regardless of the city I don't feel awkward eating or doing anything else alone. More often than not, I prefer it that way.

Yeah, it turns out to be much less awkward than people think it will be. It did weird me out for a while but actually, I get a lot of good thinking/writing/etc. done while eating or just hanging out alone in public. I also meet people I didn't already know, which happens less when you're in your own iso-group in public.
