Does anyone know Granada??

I'm heading there for the weekend and just looking for some reccos.

Things to do, see, etc, but in particular names of tapas bars and restaurants.

I would also like to find a nice restaurant to take the gf to. Not necessarily fine dining, but something on the nicer side which captures the local feeling and cuisine.

I've travelled quite a bit in Spain, so not really looking for general Spanish things, but more along the lines of specific restaurants and things in Granada. (We're staying central, so nothing that we need to drive out to)

Thanks SF,

K

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. Bodegas Castañeda is a good tapas place. I really like their croquetas, and they're between the cathedral and the Plaza Nueva, so perfectly central. La Tana has some good tapas and good wine, and might be a little less touristy; it's on the other side of Reyes Catholicos, on or just off of Calle Navas (I think).

For a nicer meal, you could try to eat at the Parador. The terrace is really nice and should be open for lunch, and you can get an upscale version of some local specialties. Apart from that, I can't think of anything. Granada for me has always been about tapas or Arabic-influenced stuff in the Albayzin area. Have fun!

Ooooo thanks Idler, but a bit too late on the reccos. I was prob enroute to the airport when you posted, and the gf wouldnt let me take the laptop for this weekend

But thanks for the effort!!

Weekend turned out great. Had some tips from friends who had been before, and also found some new places.

Just back in after a delayed flight. Loved the city!
