My first REAL Suit

Thread Starter
Hello everyone... I work in the world of finance, and graduated about 2 years ago. My closet is filled with $99 - $150 suits courtesy of Filenes Basement. Regardless, I am now in the market for 3 suits, price range from $600 - $1000 a piece. I went to Filenes Basement, and they had the Zegna traveler. I know this is the lower end, but the price was $599. Is that a good deal? If it isn't, where should I turn? Any recommended ebay sellers for lower end Zegna's? I love the blue with blue pinstripe, and black with blue pinstripe Zegna's Filenese has. Any help would be appreciated.

If you do little searching, you'll find a few good posts on this type of question. My recommendations, if you're in NYC: 1. WW Chan- when he visits NY, based purely on the good word here 2. Mohan - You can leave here with three good made-to-measure suits for under two grand. The fit isn't going to be perfect, and you need to educate yourself fully before walking through the door, but it's going to be an enormous improvement from what's hanging in your closet, guaranteed. 3. Raja Fashions - Another traveling made-to-measure tailor. A bit cheaper than Chan. 4. Century 21. You may be able to pick up a good bargain here. Particularly good for basics to go with your nice new threads.

Zegna traveller refers to durable fabric that are suitable for travelling. Make sure the suit is Ermengildo Zegna. Not Zegna soft or Tetusso Zegna. If the suit is indeed made by E. Zegna, there is nothing wrong with buying traveller's clothed suit. You'll get the same Zegna construction and quality.

FB isn't a bad source, but I would look at Corneliani or Oxxford for better bargains than Zegna. An Oxxford suit would be ideal for a finance professional.
