Nom de Guerre procedure

I've done the due diligence - read the stickied and referenced threads, read SuFu, done the searches, posted in the ask/get thread. Haven't gotten a real answer, and by that I mean something that is corroborated by more than one person. Maybe that's because there are so many opinions on this matter.

Here goes:

I just got a pair of Nom de Guerre jeans with selvage (my due diligence has told me that they make both with and without selvage and this matters). I haven't washed them, and I haven't soaked them. I believe they are sanforized (due diligence). Should I soak them? I've worn them pretty much daily for about a week now.

Reason to soak them:

Get shrinkage out of the way - I don't want fades in the wrong places. If they're sanforized, am I correct in thinking that shrinking won't be much?

Reason not to soak them:

Gets rid of starch, which might decrease creasing severity and lead to less pronounced whiskers/honeycombs.

Opinions?

Like all sanforized jeans, there's no point in soaking them unless you WANT to soften them up. If you want them to stay stiff (which will help them fade faster), just wear them.

They will shrink a bit despite the fact that they're sanfordized. I washed and tumble dried my NdG jeans when I got them because they were a bit large and they shrank considerably. I think good denim fades beautifully with many different approaches, so I'm not one to worry too much about the initial wash. These jeans are very dark anyways. If I were you I'd at least soak them in very hot water and line dry them to get most of the shrinkage out of the way.

I hereby revoke my original post and defer to the man who actually has the jeans.

I don't know. I'm kind of a denim marsupial and just took whatever Stel's threw at me. I think the selvage only comes on the standard model, if that helps at all. They're not emo slim, but relatively so, and I have big legs.

A hot soak consists of hot water in the bathtub for a few hours, right?

Yep. I'd get the water as hot as possible, let the jeans soak for an hour or so, then get the water hot again, let them soak for another hour or so, and hang dry.

I'll do pre/post soak measurements/pictures tonight or tomorrow. May not help, though, since I don't know what size I got or if it's tagged.

My non-selvedge from Peasant did not shrink much in a hot soak (although I didn't tumble dry). However, I wouldn't be concerned about soaking. Mine were still fairly stiff out of the water--when they're caked with enough indigo to smell it a couple months after you get it, fading comes pretty easy.

I washed my selvage classic fits in cold water and let them hang dry and they shrank noticeably so I'm with Baron about washing them first.

Mine are from F/W 07-08 I believe and they are pretty much true to size. The measurements on Peasant's website are a bit surprising, especially if they shrink a bit when washed. They must have adjusted the cut this season.

Better late than never (before soak, worn maybe 10 full days):

Size: 34
Waist: 34 (across back x2. Actual diameter is a little larger due to back rise longer than front)
Hippu: 24.5
Momo: 12
'nee: 8.75
Ankle: 8.5
