Just got back from the LCBO. The Jordanne was ordered. The others are favourites.

I had that Mitolo Shiraz last week. I really enjoyed it.

We really get the shaft with the limited selection at the LCBO, eh?

I got my board chair a bottle of Cragganmore distillery edition.

Wish you lived nearby Hunts, I'd have you over for a dram of that 28 y/o I just got.

Well, I hope he appreciates it! That's a nice gift. My (wonderful) boss is part Irish, and seems to really prefer the whisky of his ancestor's Isle, or else that would have been my choice for him also. I picked him up a Jamie's 12 last year; he was really touched and told me how he enjoyed it and shared it with some good friends, which is just what a good whisky should do. I know he's never had the 18, but I know it will be enjoyed and it really pleases me to get him something he wouldn't get himself. The best gifts are double-edged joys. I wish I lived nearby you, too, Pio! That is an invitation I wouldn't turn down, and I thank you for expressing it all the same. It would be fun. ~ H

Popping open a bottle of Deschutes "The Abyss" tonight that I've seen saving since the run. This stuff eats through tables, seriously, but it's so good. I hate to see it going for as much as 50 bucks a bottle on eBay and whatnot - everyone should have this beer.

Trying to learn a bit about Bordeaux.

Bought 6 bottles to try (2 bottles each of 3 labels) in the $18-$28/bottle range.

2x 2005 Chateau Haut Bessac
2x 2004 Chateau Junayme
2x 2005 Chateau Lagarosse

We should send one to Grim. I don't think he's gotten around to buying one yet!

I opted, instead of cognac, to buy a few bottles of the Sazerac 18 yr rye whiskey. I haven't opened one yet, but I'll tell you why I bought 3 without tasting it. First, the price. $65 after taxes is incredible for an 18 yr whiskey. Second, I've heard only good reviews about it. Third, it only cost $65 a bottle. Pictures may come later...

Got a bunch of Czech beers on hand for this week: Louny Lager and Czech Budweisers. The Louny's are one of the crispest and distinct lagers I've tasted.

Pictures might come later...then they might not.

Just got my Peay order in. Three each of the '06 La Bruma, Les Titans, Scallop Shelf, and Pomarian. First two are Syrah, last two are PNs. If you are a fan of Burgundy over US style PNs, I highly, highly recommend Peay.
