Was talking to the barkeep at the Gibson last night, and he made me a Negroni with Gran Classico. Very interesting. Much softer and milder, and with that refreshing minty/menthol note (but not too much, like Fernet, which I do not enjoy). I didn't realize that it was the Tempus Fugit folks who make Gran Classico that made that Violette. That's neat. If you've not had their Midnight at La Esquina cocktail, my, that was awesome. Like a tequila Negroni, but with Cocchi Americano. Awesome. Later, when I asked for bartender's choice with Ransom Old Tom (which I don't have and have never tasted), they made me a PDT cocktail they've tweaked, the De La Louisiane, with the Old Tom in place of rye. Excellent.
