I just bought some rum.



And by some I mean three bottles of Zacapa XO!! Its like the 23, except it is further aged in cognac barrels. It is probably the best rum I've ever tasted.

I'm jealous. Next time I'm in Guatemala I'm going to come home with some cool stuff.

Now I'm jealous, all I had to do to get these was go to the liquor store! If you see the cask strength Zacapa please, please, please buy me a bottle!!

I'm the one who is jealous because they don't carry the XO in my area. Next time I'm in Guate, I'll buy as much as I can.

No I suppose I have not. Most rum I have had are in something like rum and cokes and rum punch when I was in Jamaica.

I hope you like it. According to Marc Darroze, the sweetspot is younger than we would imagine simply looking at prices. I think thy are just fantastic at what they do. Enjoy.

I know noone who would mix Ron Zacapa. It's my favorit rum, I have the 23 year old and the XO. I don't really feel the XO as worth the 100% surcharge over the 23. If you want to give good rum a shot, try to get a bottle Ron Zacapa 23 (I paid 50 EUR for 1 liter), I'd say it's the best. There's also some other good stuff (see the rum thread on SF.net) but I still can't judge Mount Gay, Pampero or Barbancourt. If you want to mix it, look if you can find cheap Ron Barceló Imperial (it's aged up to 11 years). It's 12 EUR in DR so I always pick it up there, here the importers charge 30 EUR a bottle. It's ridiculously good for the price imho.
