Andre Malraux. - Page 2

Here he is (40 years ago) marching along the Champs Elysees with the labor people in support of de Gaulle. How does he do it? Even while being jostled and marching arm-in-arm, his garments drape and stay like no others in the crowd.

I wonder who his tailor was--Cifonelli, Camps, Smalto, Max Evzeline?

Here is a someone who was in government (twice- Minister of Information and Minister of Culture), was an "Indiana Jones" adventurer-archeologist, wrote books whose philosophical points are worth debating, and who could be walk in a protest crowd looking dapper, and met with Jackie Kennedy in the White House.

I think we can safely conclude the man had style.

Most likely there was no filter, those were rare at the time. I guess a "Gauloise" or "Gitane" , yes, smoked to the tongue.

"Labor"?? Anything but. They were the Gaullist/conservative crowd after the May 1968 demos, scared of the students and union mobs. Malraux had become a pillar of the establishment by then.
