Favorite cover songs?

So I was at a recent Velvet Revolver gig (the one where Scott Weiland checked himself into rehab immediately after the show) whose setlist is half comprised of G'n'R and STP songs. I got to thinking (during the VR cover of "Patience") which cover versions do I appreciate as much as the original. Here's my list. Anyone reccommend any other good ones? Bonus points for a link.

Mott the Hoople's cover of the Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane is, I think, better than the original. My favourite cover of the moment anyway.

I disagree, although I like them both. Cowboy Junkies also do a very cool cover of Sweet Jane.

The Clash's cover of "Pressure Drop" is good.
Does the Sex Pistols' version of "God Save The Queen" count as a cover?
Although I haven't heard it in some time, I enjoyed the Waterboys' cover of Van Morrison's "Sweet Thing".
Lots of "tribute" albums have interesting covers. "Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye", the Roky Erikson tribute album, has some kick-ass covers by bands including Sister Double Happiness, Doug Sahm & Sons, Lucilla Barton, Butthole Surfers, and Whiskeytown. There's also an REM cover of "I Walk Like a Zombie" that's not great, but is fun. The Graham Parsons tribute album (the name escapes me at the moment) has some great, soulful covers.
Warren Zevon's cover of "Raspberry Beret".
Many more, of course . . .

Just listened to the first 30 seconds of the "Blackbird" cover. She has a lovely voice, of course, but if I listened longer would it become anything other than an exact replica of the Beatles version?

I like Aerosmith's cover of Train Kept A Rollin, played loud. On that note, Run DMC's cover of Walk This Way is pretty cool.

Er, not really. Some subtle double-tracked harmonies on the chorus maybe. But I still like it.

Fair enough. She does a great job. It's just that in terms of my own purely personal preference, I often trouble seeing the "point" of covers that don't really do anything new or different. However, if I were a musician I'd probably see it differntly; I'm sure it's rewarding to lay down a great performance of a song you really care about.

I have no idea how I forgot about The Sundays. Such a damn, damn good cover. For those who haven't heard it before.
