Digestifs - Page 3

If you're in NYC, the Mario Battali restaurants have a large selection of amaros (amari?) and related drinks. I spent a very enjoyable afternoon sampling at Lupa.

I haven't had time to go to Italian Wine Merchants but perhaps I will have them ship some bottles to me.

Any other ideas on where to shop for amaro?

I highly recommend Fernet (Branca)..
Personally i like fernet before, during, AND after a meal.
I drink more of it that any one other brand of alcohol and love every bit of it.

There is an amazing article written about Fernet by the SF Weekly that's probably the most comprehensive article ever written on it in US press:

To the Pernod drinkers: Do you take it straight or with water? With water, any water at all, I don't enjoy it, but neat, I like it quite a lot. Comments?

I put an ice cube in mine. It kills my poor taste buds if I drink it neat.

I take Pernod neat myself, as that's how I most enjoy it, but will occasionally have it with a bit of ice if it's particularly hot outside.

I'm also a fan of mixing it with equal parts gin over ice, or adding it to champagne for Ernest Hemingway's Death in the Afternoon.

You might want to try Bénédictine or Mirto
