I am curious about what people's girlfriends, wives, or women who they don't know what to call but are "together" with dress like. Which looks/ brands do they dress with? I think it may be an interesting thread. Also funny stories or complaints of theirs are welcomed here.

My wife wears a pretty big mix of stuff. A lot of Comme, Yojhi and Marni, some other stuff mixed in. Lots of jeans and cashmere sweaters and shitloads of Louboutin and Bruno Frisoni shoes. Once in awhile she will mix in something more conservative depending on mood.

Edit: Probably more Dries than anything else.

You guys have got to be, like, the best-dressed couple on the planet.

Thanks, but when I posted a pic of us with her in a Comme outfit most people in MC seemed to think she looked like a cleaning lady or bag lady. Everybody has their own standard of well dressed, I guess.

I remember that one, I actually liked her outfit a lot. I thought it looked fashion forward while still being classy (a woefully imprecise word, but you know, well put-together, etc.). I much prefer it to the overly northeastern WASPy tartan-skirt look in the Brooks Bros. thread that everyone was going nuts over.

My woman wears a lot of different brands and has lots of different brand bags/shoes to go with her outfits. Mostly Japanese brand stuff with some American/Italian thrown in also (When she lived here she wore a lot of Elle, but that was years ago). Her overall style is kind of the sexier/elegant side of the OL (office lady) look.

Like so:

My wife has always been a fashion maniac, but I think she has really refined/narrowed her look in recent years. It's hard, though, because she is drawn to a more urban/downtown aesthetic, yet we live in a very small Southern town where it isn't really be appropriate to wear a lot of this stuff.

As far as clothing goes, the three labels that pop up most frequently in her closet are Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, and Jil Sander. Bags and accessories are mostly Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, and Miu Miu. Then there are shoes, shoes, and more shoes; she has been on quite a Christian Louboutin streak in the past few years but also has tons of Marc Jacobs, Prada, Miu Miu, and Jil Sander.

Her denim is always Earnest Sewn or J Brand. For casual tops, it's usually James Perse cotton or a J. Crew sweater.

My mommy doesn't wear anything special, although I have recently convinced her to buy a few Brooks Bros. items (this is quite a victory; being a ferocious Irish Catholic, she despises anything remotely associated with WASP culture). Some of my better-dressed friends wear a mix of Yohji, Marni, Blahnik, Louboutin, etc. The "well dressed on a budget" ones seem to wear a lot of Anthropologie and **** like that. Sadly, most girls outside of the city in NY think Forever 21 tops and those stupid leggings are the epitome of fashion.

You should be more concerned with what they have underneath than what they have on.

Or perhaps that should say: you should be more concerned about taking their clothes off than worrying about what they have on.

I can't decide which I would rather post, so I'm posting both.

Jon.

You still call her your "˜mommy'?
