NM First Call starts on Nov. 10th

I believe this is nationwide. They're having a private presale for people who got the mailed flyers next Wed. night, and then the sale starts for the public on Thursday. I would anticipate Last Call being after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the update. The NM Last Call sale is definitely one of the best around -- it rivals Filene's in my mind.

Last Call will not be until after Christmas.

How much is the discount for First Call? And what does it apply to?

Usually 1/3 off retail... on whatever they've designated as "sale" items. JV

Basically, it means that the $300 Borrelli shirts drop to low $200s. I.e., still pretty expensive. On the other hand, the best stuff (other than suits, which seem to last into Last Call) goes during First Call. For example, all the Turnbull shirts and lots of the Borrelli and Kiton shirts sell out before Last Call finally rolls around. Turnbull shirts are hard enough to get in the US, so I think there's even more reason for them to sell out quickly.

How would one go about getting one of those fliers.

I got one and tossed it -- you don't need it. Just show up with a willingness to spend $$$. ;-) JV

I went to the NM at Mazza Gallerie on Wednesday night.  A good amount of merchandise was 30% off, which made it very expensive rather than ridiculously expensive.  I left empty handed and headed over to Filene's Basement and picked up two cheap dress shirts.  FB, by the way, just got in a large shipment of Malo and Missoni.  A lot of the cheaper Malo stuff felt to my amateur hand like a cashmere-wool blend rather than pure cashmere.

Of course, now after I get two RLPL cashmere sweaters and a pringle, FB has malo. I need to head up there to check that out.. not buy anything mind you... must resist....

The Malo selection at FB is decent, but I saw a lot of pretty ugly patterns up here in Boston.

any further confirmation on when Last Call can be expected?

There will be another round of markdowns first, probably after Thanksgiving. Last Call will definitely not be before Christmas - last year the DC stores didn't have Last Call until the last week in January, although some stores (like Chicago) had it earlier in January.

A salesman at the Mazza Gallerie NM told me that Last Call will begin at the end of the month and continue through Christmas.  Perhaps he was referring to the first round of markdowns.  I expect to receive a flyer in the mail giving more details.

Just before Xmas, NM usually has what they call a "Point of Sale" (POS) mark-down. Not quite "Last Call", but almost as good. Usually, I'll but one or two items that I really like -- and don't want to risk losing out on -- at First Call. The rest I wait for these POS mark-downs; usually do well by it, though it usually helps to have a salesman who is willing to help you out (i.e., hold on to something for you for a couple of days until they're able to take the additional mark-down...).
